The initial set-up is cliched and clunky, but once you get past that and enter the part of the manga involving kingdom-building, it becomes pretty interesting. Almus implements several techinques from Earth which are innovative in this world as fe builds a village in the woods with several abandoned orphan children. This gives them a level of stability and economic security which allows them to thrive. Also, Almus has the Divine Blessing of the King which gives both femself and those who declare loyalty to fem an increase in power, so feir closest retainers end up being both more intelligent and powerful than the average person in this world. Over time, Almus not only strengthens feir village's economic and military stability, but also their political stability by allying with the king of the Rosice kingdom. Feir rise in the political world, and the military confrontations which fe gets involved with, ends up becoming a major focus of the plot. And Almus seems pretty effective as a military tactician as well. It seems like this manga is on the trajectory to have fem continue expanding feir influence and power, all the while working to stabilize the expanding territories fe gains control of. I definitely do enjoy seeing this manga describing how these innovations which we take for granted in our world today work and the processes behind them. My favorite aspects of the manga involve Aniue, the king of Rosice, and feir brother, Raymond, as they strategize. I like how they seem to love and admire Almus and want fem to be part of their plans. Related to this (because of the political nature of some of the relationships), I'm also enjoying the romantic aspects of this manga. [Reviewed at chapter 37]
