Her Majesty's Swarm

Our protagonist is a college student who enjoys playing as the evil-aligned faction Arachnea in her favorite real-time strategy game. One day, she finds herself in a world similar to the one in the game; additionally, her body is now that of a fourteen-year-old girl. While things are a bit different from how they were in the game, one element has remained the same: she is the leader of the Arachnea. The insects under her control, collectively known as the Swarm, praise her and implore her to lead them to victory. In order to survive, she raises her Swarm and forms friendly relations with the elves of the neighboring forest. But after a slaver traveling through the forest murders one of her Swarm and the nearby kingdom’s knights burn down the elven village and massacre its people, she prepares to launch her counterattacks in the name of revenge. However, revenge is merely a pretense for attacking the countries of this world. Her command is masterful and severe, as one who has played the game in real life...

Admittedly, the moment I saw this I was like: "Heck yes!" because the summary had major Overlord vibes.  Evil-aligned game isekai- with a female protaganist too?!  Sign me up.  In Her Majesty's Swarm, the main character wakes up in front of her swarm, no longer pixels on a screen, demanding orders as she is their queen.  In a new world.  She initially just doesn't want to know what they'd do if she disappointed them by not being their leader, so, it's only logical to go ahead and take charge and become a mass murderer, right?  10/10 setup, there.  She wants to find a way back to her world, though, and thinks that, maybe, by leading the bugs to victory, she'll find one.  As she steadily goes a bit insane (or at least, becomes less human) due to the hive mind she is linked into.  It's a fun read for the most part. The art is creepy/ugly a lot of the time and takes getting used to.  I don't even mean the bugs- the bug monsters are cute as heck imo.  But the art is just creepy.  Has the drawing style common in horror manga in many places (harsh, sharp, rough) and I personally can't stand how the main character's face is drawn (she really does look ugly in almost every panel) The art being so creepy and dark in scenes that aren't even creepy makes it feel like the artist was trying to force things to look darker/creepier than they are.  The unnecessary gore as well.  (Really, I find people cut in half with their intestines hanging out to be... a bit much.  And the graphicism of parisite infection... unneeded to convey the story.)   The story is interesting not because you don't have any idea of what'll happen, but because it makes you want to watch exactly how it plays out.  The characters are cute- the ones that live anyway.  I enjoy reading their interactions.
