H-Campus was one of the more compelling series that I have read so far for both the good reasons and the bad reasons. If I had to describe the series in a word, 'inconsistent'. Before I start my review, it's better to take note that there are currently two seasons of it out. The first season being Chapter 1 - 40 and the Season 2 is from Chapter 41 to the current chapter. For those whom have not yet read the series, do I recommend it? No, I do not recommend it at all unless you have a fetish for NTR or have a mental capacity of a god to tolerate the amount of bullshit and our MCs seemingly 0 IQ. Why you ask? Read on. Do take note that there might be certain spoilers but I urge you to read on so that you won't waste your time on this series. To summarize the characters,

Our MC is basically a dimwitted guy whose only redeeming feature is supposedly his cliche bigger-than-usual dick and his 'unusually' good sex techniques that seem to be able to make girls squirm. When I mean dimwitted, yes, he's stupid almost to the point of being retarded, and not in a good way either. I got so frustrated with him that I honestly thought if the series contained NTR, I wouldn't mind since he's such an idiot only to regret it later on in the series when the NTR presented itself on a silver platter because it completely utterly destroyed the only redeeming point of this series.

Our main girls are

1. a childhood friend who has a thing for him. Ahh, the vanilla cliche love interest of the series. She eludes the pure innocent sweet love for the MC almost like any female lead in a shounen. But given the premise of the series where the MC enrols in an AV college just because he's too stupid to enrol anywhere else and that 'hurdur i can fuck woman!', how will she react? And did I mention? The MC pretty much pulled her into the college based on a misunderstanding.

2. The pampered sheltered princess with a parents-complex. Basically she wants to do things on her own power because her parents are influential and she felt like a puppet because of that nadah. Since she couldn't make it out into the corporate world using her own power since people will go 'ahh you're xxx's daughter!' and pulling strings etc. What better way to make a name for yourself by going into AV. Oh and she kind of bore a grudge against the MC because of an incident in the past.

As you can see. Basically all of the characters fit into the standard archetype. Nothing too spectacular here. But, I'd give the first girl, Na Hong-Hong, props. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for pure girls like her. It's just a personal preference but I like rooting for girls that actually fight for their love instead of being the standard usual useless female MC that's indecisive and can't do anything on their own. She was basically the reason why I continued to read the series, note: was. I wanted her to get the happy end that she deserved.

Some people may not like her as much because they find her pretenious just because she pretends she's okay with the MC fucking with other women just because they are in the AV industry when in actual fact, she's actually very concerned about the matter. But she's willing to go to great lengths in order not to lose him, even to the extent of participating in the AV college despite having moral dilemmas regarding to pull out or not since the MC pulled her there on a whim.

It wasn't easy for her to do that since she was worried about him, and god forbids what happens if they do end up together and their kids finding porn of them. But she willingly tossed everything aside, including her parents' expectation of her just because she doesn't want to lose the MC. Oh and did I mention, she nearly got raped just because our MC stood her up on their date just because he went and fuck around with a stranger?

The MC seriously irks me and rubs me the wrong way. I'm getting almost a dejavu from school days. Honestly, he doesn't deserve devotion from Hong Hong. Or at least that was what I thought when the first season ended with Hong Hong firming her resolve and threw everything aside so not to lose the MC.

Then, the real issue magnified itself upon the second season. The art changed, for the worst. In the first season, the MC looked like a guy with eggshell on his head, not too great but still acceptable. The second season, he literally looks like 10 years old, almost like a shota. Hong Hong on the other hand was doe and moe looking in the first season and became almost like a bimbo in the 2nd season. Her boobs size can literally change from a C cup to an E cup in the span of two panels.

But I told myself, even if the art changed. It's still the same story by the same author, just under a different artist. So I read on, only to realise that it wasn't quite exactly the same story as Season 1. Furthermore, things were finally progressing for the MC X HongHong ship. Atta girl! But it seems that it was not just the art that went to the gutters but the intelligence of all the characters as well, not just the MC. Basically everyone went full retard.

[spoilers for the 2nd season]

1. The MC proceeds to fuck Honghong's sister and then get jealous when he sees another guy makes a move on Honghong. Dafug bro? Double standards?

2. Honghong literally went 180 degrees from a sweet innocent girl that blushes when the MC held her hand to a complete bimbo. It was like I wasn't even looking at the same character anymore. There's too much of a drastic change to even feel realistic.

3. In the latest chapter 50, Honghong actually allowed another guy to penetrate her just to test if the MC would stop them. If he did, that would signify that he loves her. What in the actual fuck. Even if it was a test, there was no need to go that far isn't it? Whatever happened to 'I will only have sex with the MC'.

Like I said before. The MC is so fucking dumb that if he gets NTRed, I wouldn't mind even if my preferred ending was the vanilla love end. But not like this. There's a lot better ways to NTR Honghong from him than completely destroying her character. There isn't a single ounce of her original character left upon the second season. The author could have done it at a more gradual pace just like how she struggled with her feelings for the MC and such.

/end rant.

If you can bear inconsistency with the characters and plot, or if NTR is your fetish (though I still wouldn't recommend unless you can tolerate the bullshit plot and story telling), by all means read the series. Though you may get disappointed by the new art upon the second season starting. I'm dropping the series for good while crying at a corner for my sunken ship of the MC and Honghong because at this rate it's going, Honghong's character is going to get destroyed even further. Am I mad? Sure I am. So much wasted potential just because of poor writing and character development.

Ok, so first, the art in this is pretty good.

That being said, don't waste your time. Don't even start. It starts interesting and funny which gave me hope. But halfway through it becomes cliche and more cliche. The plotline is predictable and you have to be a hero to read through or curious like me. Since you are reading this. DON'T BE CURIOUS, NOTHING TO SEE HERE!
