Claymore

Claymore

In a land overrun by yoma - monsters that feed upon human innards and take on the appearance and memories of their victims - humans are little more than cattle awaiting slaughter. The only opposition to the yoma is The Organization, a group led by a council of mysterious men who send out their all-female warriors (known as claymores) to do their bidding. However, The Organization is not charitable; a town must pay an exorbitant fee for their services. Likewise, many of the claymores care little for those who they protect. Clare, the lowest ranked claymore, lives only so that she may one day avenge her mentor.

Fight creatures of the night in these dark times is not as easy as one might think. So how do you get rid of what you can't control? Easy, you get one of those creatures of the night to fight for you. And that is how both organizations fight, but is there more things going on than just fighting against the creatures of the night?

They both have a badass main character who is also of (or partially of) the same species as their prey.

Zombie-Loan

Zombie-Loan

Michiru Kita is a girl with an unusual ability: when she notices dark rings around the necks of two of her classmates - rings that are invisible to any normal person - she knows that their lives are at risk. She decides to approach them, in order to warn them or help them in some way, but soon discovers that there is more to the two boys than even her eyes could see. They are zombies, working for the mysterious company known as Z-Loan in order to pay their debts. And so Michiru finds herself helping the short-tempered Chika and the cold, indifferent Shito in ways that she'd never have imagined - fighting off illegal zombies to collect their bounties! But these illegal zombies, usually very basic and driven by instinct, seem to be getting more intelligent each time...

Mankind’s only hope for salvation is to use the demons’ power against them–-and only a pure-hearted man like Fudo Akira can do so without losing his humanity. Once little more than a crybaby, Akira now wields the terrible power of a devil, yet holds the innocent soul of a man–-Devilman!

Go Nagai does a brilliant work at illustrating intense graphic violence that exceeds Hellsing's brutality. Both mangas show the story of mankind's greatest enemy on the side of the good guys (for Hellsing, you have Alucard vs vampires, and Devilman has Devilman vs demons). Akira Fudo isn't a complete bore, and like Alucard, he can contribute a few laughs. There are, however, very few moments in Devilman that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, and the conclusion is one that cannot be summed up in mere words.

Cirque Du Freak

I noticed a good few similarities between both series other than the fact that both deal with vampires.

Darren Shan and Seras Victora are both turned (each with their own means for it) by a full blooded creature of the night (Mr. Crepsley and Alucard). Both at the first refuse to drink blood, having difficulty excepting the fact that they now must in order to survive. As the series progress both Darren and Seras proove themselves worthy of their vampric blood, and earning approval from both masters.

Another similarity is that both have a war with another type of vampire, once again both with a different idea behind them, but strongly similar in away. For now, we will leave it at that.

An odd thing, is that Mr. Tiny and Alucard remind me of each other. Both are old in time, and have seen many things.. though Mr. Tiny loves his mind games and has a sweet personality at first.. his love for tragedies, blood shed, and mischeif greatly remind me of Alucard.

If you liked one series, you are bond to like the other.

Trinity Blood

Hellsing and Trinity Blood have many similar themes, though are different in their execution: Hellsing leans much more towards the shonen/seinen demographic, while Trinity Blood is arguably more of a shoujo style. Both stories, however, deal with vampires (and the monsters that hunt them), the church (though they are the protagonists in TB, and antagonists in Hellsing), and have casts of characters that parallel each other nicely.

Gantz

Gantz

Kei, a cynical and arrogant high school student, has minimal regard for others; so it's much to his surprise that when he's asked by his elementary school friend Kato to save a drunken bum laying on the subway tracks, he actually complies. However, no good deed goes unpunished, and they are swiftly decapitated by the oncoming train. Kei and Kato awaken in a nondescript room occupied by a black sphere and a variety of other people, and thus begins Gantz's game. In it, the players must face off against aliens in battles where death is inevitable and rewards are minimal. Unfortunately for them, this is just the beginning of their nightmare - at least, for those who manage to survive...

Hellsing and Gantz are both mega-violent. They also both have a cast of horrible, scary, ugly-looking bad guys.

Berserk

Berserk

Born beneath the gallows tree from which his dead mother hung, Guts has always existed on the boundary between life and death. After enduring a terrible childhood, he spends his adulthood in brutal combat, pitting his strength against others in order to build his own. Life is simple enough for Guts until he meets Griffith, the inspirational, ambitious, and beautiful leader of the mercenaries, the Band of the Hawk. When Guts loses to Griffith in a duel, he is forced to join the Band of the Hawk, and, despite himself, finds a sense of camaraderie and belonging amongst them. However, as Griffith leads his soldiers from victory to victory, the bloody wars and underhanded politics reveal a side to him that nobody quite expected. Very soon, what seems like a straightforward march for conquest becomes a harrowing struggle for humanity and life itself. Can Guts, a simple warrior, defend those who have come to mean the most to him, all the while struggling not to lose to the darkness he has carried with him his entire life?

Both of Berserk and Hellsing are super violent and involve huge battle scenes. Both also have pleanty of hellish demonic looking bad guys. But I think the most important similarity is the protagonists ability to kill hoards of badguys with little or no effort.
