Humans may be considered at the top of the food chain, but when people are in the presence of cockroaches, they cower in fear. Who can they turn to when faced with these insects? The Gokiburi Busters, who have yet to fail to eliminate a threat!
What to do when you find a cockroach in your house? Obviously, you call a team of superheroes, duh! After all, cockroaches are at the top of the food chain. This ridiculously funny idea is what the one-shot - made by the duo of ONE and Murata - is about. It's a parody (obviously) of action manga / superhero comics. It's over-the-top, short and hilarious. Storywise it's pretty simple (well, it is only a oneshot) but it fulfills it's duty of making you laugh. The characters... mostly they're not really defined, but one guy gets a backstory in the form of a flashback. Although that kind of flashback is typically seen as lazy storytelling, I'd call it a miracle that even one of them has a backstory. What the other characters are like can be seen through their interactions, but they're obviously not fleshed out that well: fleshing out those characters is also not the purpose of this manga. Artwork... is great! As one would expect from the artist of One-Punch Man. The roaches also look very uhm... *cough* "threatening". In short: give it a try! (after all, it's only 28 pages, and even if you don't like the story it does look good)
An elite force of fighters is called upon to deal with a single cockroach a mom found in her apartment, and they must rescue her child who was left in there. Obviously, this is what's known as a joke. And this singular jokes just gets funnier and funnier the more they ham it up--especially as the body count starts rising and their totally preventable deaths pile up. By the end of this short story, I was laughing my head off.
