At the Mercy of the Emperor's Love

This is a smut story where the smut takes a back seat to the plot while still having very steam scenes. The story is ultimately about the main character meeting the male lead while he is injured and falling in love with him while discovering he is the king and helping to support him as he claims his right to the throne.  The characters are pretty ordinary, but the plot and events of protecting the king at her house, the main characters connection to her father, and the concept of the posion cave are very interesting. It's these moments that kept me interested in the story portion of this manga But of course, this is a smut manga so that is an important aspect to the story. The author does a great job of timing the steamy scenes so that they make sense with the plot. It isn't like the plot was made to get to these scenes but that the smut compliments the existing plot. The smut itself is pretty vanilla, but it is sweet, consensual, and I am able to tell how much these two love each other from this act.  Overall, this story has a great balance. Nothing spectacular, but worth a read.
