Re:Birth - The Lunatic Taker

Re:Birth - The Lunatic Taker

Reiji is your typical high-school student living with his big sister Ayaka. One day he stumbles upon a pair of bracelets on the sidewalk. He picks them up and tries to find the owner, but gets sidetracked as a bag snatcher runs his direction. He tries to stop him but is stabbed and killed. On the brink of death, he hears a voice from the bracelets "If thou wishes to live, form a contract." What has Reiji gotten himself into? And what exactly does the contract entail?

I think Re:Birth - The Lunatic Taker and Freezing are very similar, because the artwork is very similar, the main characters are also very similar, like the girl for example, they both have extraordinary strenght,  hey're both overprotective, and they sometimes look very innocent, and finally they get extremely dangerous when they take off their galsses.

But the plot is also very similar, there's the "partners" thing, the level-up system, most of the characters are pshycopaths, and also, both of these mangas have a lot of killing, and not just humans.....

so if you've read or are reading one of them, you should read the other.

If you're into the whole girls with megaboobs battling thing, these titles are a good match (though the two aren't that similar in plot, they will definitely appeal to the same fans of this sort of idea/theme). They were drawn by the same person, so you'll recognize a similarity in characters, as well.

Claymore

Claymore

In a land overrun by yoma - monsters that feed upon human innards and take on the appearance and memories of their victims - humans are little more than cattle awaiting slaughter. The only opposition to the yoma is The Organization, a group led by a council of mysterious men who send out their all-female warriors (known as claymores) to do their bidding. However, The Organization is not charitable; a town must pay an exorbitant fee for their services. Likewise, many of the claymores care little for those who they protect. Clare, the lowest ranked claymore, lives only so that she may one day avenge her mentor.

Claymore and Freezing are about chicks who in order to fight monsters, become half-monster themselves. While Freezing starts of bad, after a few chapters it becomes evident how similar it is to Claymore. Those ladies in Claymore spend more time fighting the monsters than themselves, on the other hand chicks in Freezing are more pron to beat the s*** out of each other than fighting monsters. Also Claymore is stronger on gore, while Freezing has some annoying ecchi (at times). If you found the fighting series style appealing in one of those two manga, than you might want to check the other one too,

P.S. Freezing isn't that great story wise, but it does improve slightly after the first 10 or so chapters.

Girls of the Wild's

Girls of the Wild's

Wild's High has a 42-year history as a fighting specialized, girls only, private high school meant solely for the elite. It is also the place that Wild's-League is held: the most popular event in the country and the only place in the world where teenage girls have brutal fights with their lives on the line. One year the school changed from a girls only school to a mixed gender school. The only male student, Song Jae Gu, has been granted a full 3-year scholarship regardless of grades. Being someone who had to spend every moment either working or taking care of his younger brother and sister, he accepted. But after meeting Queen, the bloody champion of Wild's-League, drenching her in coffee, calling her a monster, and getting caught seeing her while she was taking a shower... his scholarship could prove fatal.

If you read the first 10 chapters of Freezing and disliked it a lot, you might be surprised how lack of ecchi and better writting, can make the "girls fighting meaningless figths" theme so much better. If you truly detested the first few chapters of Freezing (and even more the over the top drama later on), you might actually enjoy reading Girls of the Wild's.

In both there is a school in which the students have superpowers and fight each other for some dumb reasons. On top of that those powers often involve materializing weapons. There are many other similarities between those two, but I don't feel like using them as a base for my recommendation.
