As Hajime’s sweltering summer continues, Kanako and Yayoi have started working at the Ark Café with the rest of the gang. As ever, serving the customers takes a backseat to going out and enjoying the season – and what better way to enjoy the sun than with a trip to the beach? While the men fish up nothing but bikini tops and Sayaka attempts to get a date, self-conscious Jun has to try and conceal her gender from Hajime. Though when the group stays overnight at a hot springs resort and Jun must share a room with him, it proves to be all the more difficult to keep her secret. Whether the staff of the Ark café are finding a partner for Yayoi, travelling in time or ignoring a customer’s request for salt, it’s safe to say that their summer will be anything but dull.

When thirteen-year-old Hajime goes to stay with his grandfather he gets lost and wanders into the Ark Cafe. There he meets Arashi, a sixteen-year-old girl with a big secret, and is immediately drawn to her. When a large private detective clad in camouflaged trousers and dark sunglasses walks into the cafe looking for Arashi, Hajime manages to help make him back off - for now. In thanks, Arashi goes to shake his hand but as she does so the pair connects and Arashi takes Hajime back in time to show him how the town used to look... while she was still alive! Now, after being ‘won' in a bet by the con artist currently managing the cafe, Hajime is working alongside the ‘ghostly' Arashi and fellow middle-schooler Jun who also suffered the same losing fate. As his life takes this unexpected turn, Hajime's stormy summer filled with strawberry bombs, moped races, and plenty of time travelling is only just beginning.

While the serious Ai attempts to learn the tricks to becoming a master patissiere from Mika, the mischievous mascot girls Kago and Tsuji prefer to spend their time slacking off or trying to steal the food. Of course, with the energetic Yaguchi and less-than-truthful air stewardess Goto spending plenty of time at the café discussing Gocchin’s ventures to foreign lands or their diaries, it’s a miracle that the girls of the Mini Moni café get any work done at all!
