Two young women start their freshman year at a university. One would never assume these two have anything in common, but they meet by chance in the room belonging to this university's mountaineering club. Climbing may be tough for the two who have never done any sports, but the other members of this small, dedicated club are determined to keep the freshmen around so that the club isn't disbanded for low membership.

He sees in the mountains not only a personal challenge, but a way of being part of nature itself, thus using the lessons of the tribes of the area and the observation of animal behavior to solve the difficulties it presents the mountain. K must face increasingly tough challenges in the struggle for survival and personal growth that involves climbing mountains over 8000 meters.

The manga' story centers on a woman named Haiji, whose eccentric grandfather has just passed away, and left her his mountain cabin. Her grandfather worked with a man named Kirishima, who didn't fit Haiji's image of mountaineers at all. Haiji plans to visit the mountain cabin, but finds difficulty with the unforgiving climb. Once she makes it, the sight she sees changes her, and she makes a decision.
