A young boy gazes up at the sky and sees a streaming bolt of light. The friendly, armor-clad being at his side tells him gently, "That's a dragon." The fact that he's joking isn't important. What's important is the look of wonder on the boy's face... and the galaxy-spanning adventure that's about to take place!
This manga on the surface looks similar to fairy tail, but this is totally different. This is fairy tail but everything done right. Basically whatever flaws fairy tail had, Edens zero tackles it. The story is similar to one piece but the setup is in space. This manga also gets dark as the story progresses. You will totally enjoy it. The starting few chapters may put you off but hold on and continue. This review is based after I have read 160 chapters.
Story The story consists of a boy named Shiki who grew up on a planet where it's residence are all robots. His adoptive robot grandfather, "The Demon King" raises him and teaches him how to use his ether gear for gravity. Years later and A girl named Rebecca comes to this planet in hopes of making a video for massive amounts of views and meets Shiki. Due to a fake virus "corrupting " the robot residence, Shiki and Rebecca are forced to leave and end up exploring the cosmos together. This story isn't by far the most complex nor is it perfect, and a lot of people are going to compare this work to its predecessor Fairy Tail. Getting into this story you should be looking for an entertaining story that is heavily focused on characters not plot. It too early to tell for sure. But as of right now, the problems with Fairy Tail are either not present or not as severe in Edens Zero story. There are consequences, friendship boosts are not present, and plot armor is very thin Art Art is very opinionated. Some may hate Hiro Mashima's art style. Others may love it. I am one of those who love Mashima's art style. If you are not a fan of how he draws, I suggest not reading his manga. Characters Like Fairy Tail, one of Edens Zero biggests strengths is it's cast of characters. Each character has a distinctive look and personality that intertwine like magic. The chemistry between the crew of Edens Zero is amazing and they truly feel close with one another, which makes sense given the fact that "friendship" is one of Mashima's biggest messages in his mangas Overall Edens Zero is essentially Fairy Tail in space. It plays on the strengths of Fairy Tail and does it's best to not create any weaknesses. With only 86 chapters in, both those who loved Fairy Tail and those who have never heard or cared for it should be able to get into and enjoy this series
