I always would and always will reccomend Akira toriyama's works. His art and his characters are lighthearted and loving people with serious life situations and stories. Specifically for Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, they are his two most well-known, and co-exist in a "Toriyama" kind of world.

These manga were created by the sme author. The styles are visibly similar, but still not exact copies.

Both are from the same author, and both stories belong to the same universe, there's even a crossover that happens during Dragon Ball's Red Ribbon Arc.Both main characters are insanely strong and give a lot of trouble to the people around them because of their naive and innocent nature.

The plot & storytelling of both series is very similar. A seemingly clueless young boy, raised in the wilderness, with superhuman strength & martial arts skills, on a quest to become stronger & beat the bad guys. Even the artwork looks the same. If you liked Dragon Ball or Yaiba, you will defintely enjoy the other one as well.

Cromartie High School

Cromartie High School

Kamiyama Takashi has just enrolled at Cromartie High School due to a promise with an old friend. There's just one problem: it's a school for delinquents! While Kamiyama automatically feels out of place, it doesn't help that his fellow students aren't just ordinary delinquents; there's a gorilla, a robot, and even a mysterious and silent man affectionately known as Freddie. In a school where having a nickname is a must to be taken seriously, where students eat bunches of pencils and where the delinquent leader of the first year students has a crippling case of motion sickness, there might just be a chance Kamiyama could enjoy his new life at Cromartie!

The humor in Dragon Ball and Cromartie High School is aimed at the exact same crowd. It's crude and bawdy, over the top and unpredictable... if you laughed at one, you'll probably get a chuckle out of the other as well.

I think Cowa is a perfect recommendation for Dragon Ball, and vice-versa. Both are family friendly shonen titles that are a mix of adventure and comedy. They both also have a big cast of memorable characters. Akira Toriyama is the creator of both titles, so the art and story-telling styles are extremely similar. The only big difference is the amount of action in the later chapters of Dragon Ball.

Along with the crafty and wise demon Thief, Rao and Beelzebub set forth into the desert on a grand expedition, discovering along the way that humans and demons might not be so different...

Gosu and original Dragonball both hold a lot of the same often-comedic-but-sometimes-serious vibe over fantastical martial arts.  Both wonderfully entertaining.
