In both these manga there is a boy with certain powers that can be quite powerful-because of the cercumstances and because of them. Both manga also are about exorsits, demons and trying to become powerful.
Though somtimes the feel of the manga is slightly different, some of the charictors give off a similar vibe.
If you liked one you will defenetly like the other.
There's definitely similar aspects in both these Mangas, groups of teenage exorcists fighting demons leaded by Satan or Millenium Earl, packed with good a amount of humor. The core artwork is not very similar, but they both follow their own halloween'ish dark'ish style which I like a lot. Check them out!!
Both of these are shounen manga about exorcist organisations. While Ao no Exorcist focuses on exorcists in training, if you enjoyed the comedy, action and demon kick-assery of one, then you'll likely enjoy the other.
Both of these stories feature demons as well as protagonists that find out that there is darkness inside of them. The ammount physical as well as mental pain of the individual characters is more prevalent in D.Gray-Man while Blue Exorcist focuses on friendship and teamwork. All of the characters in both manga are well developed and interesting.
Blue Exorcist and D.Gray-Man share several similarities:
- shonen manga that focus fun action;
- an hunting demon organization;
- main characters that are tainted by the evil they fight;
- good artwork.
there both shounene and have good storys ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................
Do you like kids fighting demons? How about tonal shifts from lighthearted to serious and dramatic? The art styles are both lovely as well
Ichigo Kurosaki is an average high school boy with a not-so-average ability to see spirits - something that hadn't affected his life much until a strange woman entered his room one day. Named Kuchiki Rukia, she's a shinigami who was sent from the spirit world to destroy a hollow - a dead-soul-turned-monster; and much to her surprise, Ichigo can see her. When the hollow suddenly attacks his family, Rukia intervenes and is injured in the process, leaving Ichigo to fight it himself. But when Rukia lends him her shinigami powers - which is forbidden - he inadvertently drains them away and has no way to return them. Now, Ichigo is a full-fledged shinigami who must juggle his studies with his newfound duty of fighting hollows; but having gained his powers through forbidden means, the spirit world isn't going to leave Ichigo alone. Ichigo and Rukia must keep their situation a secret from the other shinigami, or the consequences could be dire.

Bleach and D.Gray-man have similar concepts. The main characters in both mangas use weapons that free souls from demons. Hollows and Akuma are both pretty much born from the emotions of human beings (although Hollows are born from the person who dies, while Akuma are born from people who were close to the person who dies). The shows both deal with spirits and the dearly departed as well.
Both D.Gray-man and Bleach are primarily action based manga. Both also have a strong central character that works to protect people from the darker side of life, be they Akuma or Hollows. Both also thow a bit of comedy into the mix so if you like one then it's worth trying the other.
It's because they both contain supernatural stuff, and having fights between monsters, plus some places in both are very funny >_<
they've some similiar concepts ;
Exorcist - Shinigami
Innocence - Zanpakto
Akuma - Hollow
etc.
In a bizarre fantasy world, students known as meisters are trained at the illustrious Shinigami Weapon Meister University; but the tools they wield are no ordinary weapons! Each meister is paired with a human-like being who can transform into a weapon at will; and after defeating a pre-kishin - a human whose soul has darkened - the weapon eats the soul within it. Maka and her partner Soul Eater; Assassin Black Star and his partner Demon Blade Tsubaki; and Shinigami's son Death the Kid and his partners the Demon Twin Pistol Thompson Sisters each vie for their ultimate goal, but plenty of challenges and adventures lie in their way!

D.Gray-Man and Soul Eater are simmilar, cause:
Black Order = Shibusen
Exorcist = Student of Shibusen
In Soul Eater people fights with "akuma", like in DGM.
Plenty of similiraties to be found on both of these mangas, fighting shounen with awesome supernatural powers filled with humor and a very dark halloween'ish touch in the artwork, and in the middle of it you'll get a nice plot and some slow character development.
Soul Eater and D.Gray.Man share several similarities:
- shonen manga that focus on fun action;
- weapons that have an attachment to the users;
- hunting demons organizations;
- protagonist that are tainted by the evil they fight;
- clowns and Noah's are present;
- original artwork.
The first law of alchemy is that "one cannot gain something without giving something of equal value in return" - a rule that two souls dare to cross. When Edward and Alphonse Elric try to revive their dead mother, breaking the taboo of human transmutation in process, Ed loses his right arm and left leg while Al loses his entire body. After the tragedy, an alchemist named Roy Mustang visits them and tells Edward to become a state alchemist to find a way to recover what they have lost. Accompanied by Al, whose soul is now attached to a metal suit of armor, Ed is fitted with auto-mail parts in place of his lost limbs and becomes a state alchemist by the name of "Full Metal Alchemist." Together, they set forth on a journey to find the Philosopher's Stone - the one item that is rumored to have the power to restore them.

Though the subject matter is somewhat different, my reason for making this rec is that both of these series have a very similar tone. They have the same sort of mix of comedy and action alongside a good plotline. Also both Fullmetal Alchemist and D.Gray-Man feel a little darker than most shounen manga, so if you enjoyed one, and like the genre, then definitely check out the other.
Both have strong dark elements, but throw in lots of humor to balance it out. They also both have a very similar cast, with a group of inredibly powerful bad guys who are used for comedic relief when not in intense fights, an easily angered and self-justified young teenager for a protagonist, etc. They work the same; the plot mechanics are similar and even the fights are reminiscent of each other.
Kensuke Nimura has always been able to see spirits, but he never expected to find himself helping a girl named Kagura who battles evil spirits with her spirit beast, Byakuei. As it turns out, she's a member of the Ministry of the Environment's top-secret Occult Disaster Response Agency, and she's out to recruit him, too...

D.Gray-Man is a manga that magnificently displays a blend of excorcism and fighting with a cool goth theme wrapped with many races around the world and displayed with a story of dramatic and funny proportions. This is truly a good manga that rightfully deserves a crown.
Ga-Rei is similar manga depicting exorcism immersed with a rich dose of Japanese culture and ancient folklore. It have magnificent visuals and much effort is spent drawing on each page. The story is amazing and drama and comedy comes in perfectly with it. Sadly this manga that rivals D.Gray-Man and Bleach is under appreciated by manga reader everywhere.
Check both of these manga out will not disappoint you! I swear it!
Fourteen years ago, the witches of the world waged war against humans and due to their immense power, many countries fell under their control. In order to combat this threat, the unharmed nations formed an organisation consisting of humans with special abilities known as the "Witch Hunters". Tasha Gospel is one such witch hunter who, under the codename Magic Bullet Marksman travels the land with his pumpkin-faced supporter, Halloween, taking on missions to defeat witches and earn his income. However, what Tasha really aims for is to locate his sister, Aria, who has been corrupted by the power of a magical hat and is now known as the Red Witch. But will he be able to take back his sister from the ones who stole her in the first place, and can he do it before the curse Aria cast several years ago kills him?

Hmmm... A bunch of people with unique powers, working in church-based military organisation, hunting down the evil guys, (also with unique power). Hell, even their uniforms look practically the same... Add to that, that in both cases the main character is a white-haired kid and the titles start to resemble twins.
Of course there are some small differences.. Like the powers, the designs, the names... But you know - switch exorcists for witch hunters, devils for witches and you got the same stuff.
Hosho Aiko should be dead. To be precise, when she came back home one day, she found her entire family slaughtered by a grotesque monster. The creature attacked and killed her as well, but she finds herself awakening in a mysterious room, taken care of by Dr. Kochigawa. She has amnesia, but when another monster appears before her in her room, she regains her memories and her left arm changes into a powerful weapon, very similar to that of the monster, which she destroys.

Replica instantly reminded me of D.Gray-Man for so many reasons.Firstly, both series are about an organization composed mostly of young boys (Black Order/Cards) that fights against inhuman creatures which endanger the mankind (Akuma/Toy).Both have as the main villain an evil inventor/earl who is responsible of the attacks put into action by the above said creatures.Also, these manga share the same mood, aesthetics, and quirky, clown-like style, with dark/gothic elements, unusual weapons, extravagant setting, strange objects, etc.
Across the world, malevolent beings known as il inhabit enchanting objects to entice curious humans toward them, and in doing so they devour the heart and freely use their victims’ bodies as puppets. To combat the threat that the il pose, hunters called Syste Behards roam the land fighting their prey to keep innocent civilians safe. One such hunter is March, who has an incredible ability capable of subduing, exorcising, and defeating ils. But with a dark power sleeping inside that threatens to overwhelm the young Syste Berhard at the first sign of falling in love, can March continue to fight the il and still remain human?

Both of these series have a very similar vibe, focusing on a malevolent presence manipulating human emotions and causing their ultimate downfall. Both also deal with a young protagonist with a special power and a dark past, if you enjoyed either of these aspects in one, then definitely check out the other.
When darkness falls on the foggy streets of London, demons and monsters emerge to prey on human life. But demons aren’t the only ones prowling the streets. Two women have picked up the fight as humanity’s frontline defense against the darkness--a young gun-toting nun named Sister Meg and her mysterious, eternally youthful partner Angela. Together, they have made it their life’s work to spend their nights hunting the vile demons that stalk mankind.
