Koh's life completely changes when he is involved in a car accident. The impact is so traumatizing that, for some reason, not only his entire body is injured, but some of the nerves make his eyes burn. Every doctor and nurse is surprised by his healing speed, but his eyes never stop burning. When he finally removes the bandages he realizes his eyes went full-Spiderman mode and he can see perfectly without the glasses that he used to correct his eyesight. What's more? When he gets discharged from the hospital he notices something weird: not only he can see perfectly, but he can see a weird dark shape on top of some people's heads? What happened to him! Plus/minus consideration: STORY: Deathopia is the funny attempt of a novice mangaka to mix nudity (which is a strong factor), action and supernatural elements to please fanservice and action lovers. If you like gunfights, swordplay or superpowered character with massive tits, this is what you're looking for. Although sometimes the priority goes to fanservice compared to story, you can enjoy both and it can be really entertaining. The explicit sex tag is misleading, don't expect sex scenes: what you can expect is sexual content and attempted rape. The use of these superpowers is unclear and chaotic towards the end, reason why some of the people thought the ending was rushed or completely up in the air. If you look at Deathtopia without thinking too much, it's still a good read in my eyes. Good set of abilities from both enemies and comrades. Don't expect romance because you're not going to get any. (+) ART: it looks really good. It feels like going back to the ecchi side of Strongest Disciple Kenichi with fights and tits, this time with a really good looking art style. Clean panels and a huge shoutout to those three girls' bodies: they made my day. (++) CHARACTERS: I don't know how this special department turns Koh in a complete wrecking machine of skills: living with three beautiful killers must be the reason. Weak main character, he seems like the useless dude that turns badass just to save people on the verge of death to make young ladies fall in love with him. The girls are made on purpose to satisfy as many readers as possible: you like the violent type? You have one. You like the cold-blooded one with a katana? There you have it. You like the calm and experienced senpai? You got one as well. Deathtopia suffers a bit from the sudden update of the "final goal", the constant "he/she's not the real threat, we're not done just yet" that makes the story a bit longer. The risk in doing this is the fact that for the totality of the story you look at one person as antagonist, but he/she's not the one and it's a bit disappointing. (--) I have a weak spot for manga with special abilities and superpowers and Deathtopia goes on the list of the ones I liked. It's not a read for everybody because the story is "enough" to be decent but the fanservice can be way too much. As I said, don't expect romance: it ain't happening. Good amount of variety so everybody can be happy with at least one characters' style, maybe too much variety. The ending could've been handled better for sure, but I had a good time. Not on top of the manga I would recommend, but if you're interested in the tags, give it a try.

A surprisingly enjoyable action story revolving around a mysterious group of people who have started showing up with superhuman traits. Sprinkle in some gratuitous violence, gore, and a dash of "big anime tiddies", and you've got yourself an enjoyable read. Story: There's a lot to take in with this one. It definitely touches on a lot of traditional Action anime/manga tropes, up to and including multiple plot twists that try really hard to be unpredicatable. The unfortunate part, though, is that the twists are either still entirely too predictable, or so far out of context that they feel like they were conjured up on the spot. Beyond that, however, there is quite a lot of meaty plot to enjoy here with a fairly unique and interesting 'powers' system. Art: Beautifully detailed environments and characters with a spectacular flair. My only real complaint is that it often becomes difficult to tell which character is performing which actions in a given panel due to the fact that several character designs are quite similar, and the artist has a flair for leaving out shading elements or covering up elements with action lines during intense scenes. Characters: Amusing characters with distinct personality traits and relatively detailed backgrounds that drive their actions and motivations. My only real problem with them is that they seem a bit over the top, but I won't fault the author for that when it's pretty much a staple of the genre. Overall: A very enjoyable, but somewhat by-the-books action/ecchi manga with all the trappings that come with the genre. If you're here for a story revolving around powers that doesn't care for censorship, you're in the right place.
