Chobits

Nineteen-year-old ronin Hideki Motosuwa desires two things more than anything else: a girlfriend, and an expensive humanoid computer (known as a 'persocom'). But with his dead-end job and no financial aid from his parents, owning a persocom seems impossible... until he finds a blond-haired female persocom tied up amongst a pile of trash! After getting her home and figuring out how to activate her, even the computer-illiterate Hideki realizes there is something unusual when it appears she can only say one word - Chii. Both manga are slice of life sort of magical girl manga, where the female protaganist slowly develops over time starting from scratch.

JAhU JAhU says...

Both manga feature a non-human, android-like girl and in both of those series the girl is a kind of a defective product. The male lead (who is made to live with the girl) finds her to be great annoyance at first, but slowly starts developing feelings for her later on (he certainly doesn't think of the girl as defective). Both series pose as ecchi comedies, but they actually contain some drama and obviously romance. If you liked one of them, there is a big chance that you will like the other one as well.

WellChild WellChild says...

Both are futuristic (to a degree). In both series, the non-human beings are predominately portrayed as female, which allows the for the ecchi themes, along with the down-on-his-luck male lead. They also both illustrate similar relationships, which leads to some questioning of whether humans and non-humans can love each other. There are other more basic similarities, but I think that if you enjoy one series, you should consider checking out the other.

Yakoz Yakoz says...

Both manga are based on romance and the sudden appearance of a girl, an android for Chobits and an alien for DearS. The male lead in both cases will have to take care of the girl and teach her everything about the world step by step, getting closer and closer in their "forbidden" relationship.

These two series are similar in more ways then I would have thought possible. Both are fanservice laden ecchi, both are romance based, both involve a master-servant relationship. While Ren and Himari themselves are very differant, I would definately say if you liked one, you'll like the other.

These two series are so similar its eerie. Alien becomes bonded to boy, boy is annoyed by it and begins to fall in love. They also both have cut-off anime made from them, and a similar art style. If you finished one and want more of the same, read the other.

Both of those series feature a slave-like alien race which came to earth to find masters. In both series the alien race is mostly female and the contract between the alien and human is done through kissing. Sekirei has actually a better plot (and probably characters) than DearS, but it also has lots of ecchi. On the other hand there is a bit of drama going in in DearS. Despite their appearance, both manga have more to offer than just fanservice and so, if you liked one, you might try reading the other one too.

Both manga follow similar plot. An odd girl appears in male lead's life, starts living with him causing trouble for him in the process. So he is annoyed, but as the series progresses his attitude changes and grows very attached to the girl. Both series feature comedy, romance, a little bit of drama (mostly DearS) and a little bit of harem (not all that much though). If you liked one you might want to check the other one as well.

There is this delinquent dude in whose life this non-human girl appears. She moves in to his house and annoys to no end, but he somehow gradually comes to love her anyway. If you read one of those manga and liked it, reading the other one might be a good idea.

JAhU JAhU says...

Happy World! follows a similar concept. Like DearS it features a non-human girl who decides to live with the (un)fortunate high-school boy for one reason or another (much to his annoyance). If you've read DearS and want to read something similar you could give Happy World! a try, though it's probably not even half as good as DearS.

Fairial Garden

Fairial Garden

Noah is a young boy whose parents are world famous as scientists who developed "Fairia seeds.", special flower seeds that can "grow" fairy-like beings called Fairia. Fairias have become popular pets since the seeds became available for sale. Popular with everyone else but Noah. One day he picks up a houseplant from the garbage and brings it home without realizing that it is a Fairia plant. When it flowers, out comes a beautiful girl the size of a pea. He names her Claire. Claire is a special kind of Fairia called Fairial that can make themselves human-sized. Now, Noah must find out the secret behind the Fairia seeds, if he wants to keep Claire safe.

JAhU JAhU says...

So, in this alternative reality some sort of non-human being (the Dears in case of DearS and Fairia in case of Fairial Garden) is all the rage among the population. Everyone, but our male lead, wants to have one of those. Yet, it is him who comes into possession of a special one (much to his dismay). From there, despite his initial negative attitude, he gradually starts to care about the one in his care. Note that Fairial Garden is awfully cute and unlike DearS it's ecchi free. If the first part of this recommendation got you interested and the second part didn't discourage you, you might as well give those two manga a go.

Huan Xiang Nu Pu

Huan Xiang Nu Pu

Are you single? Are you an otaku? Would you like to buy a "wife"? Do you fantasize about eating, having fun, shopping, and sleeping with her? Can you promise to take responsibility and love her for a lifetime? Would you use your life to pay for a contract? A fantasy that belongs only to you; a maid that belongs only to you.

JAhU JAhU says...

Maybe it's just me, be Fantasy Maid, looks similar to DearS, except the characters seam more likable and ecchi seems to have been replaced by cutness. This is just a hunch, but my gut tells me you might like Fantasy Maid if you liked DearS (especially if you'd like it more with less fanservice).

Edit: Actually there is a bit of smut later on in Fantasy Maid...
