Warning this review may contain spoilers: So this is a cute chibi spin off of the main series and I found it really cute, and really just a but of fun against the main series. Something light and fluffy. Anyway back to the review. STORY So to be honest there wasn't any story,it was just a simple 4-koma about each spirit presented in a cute way. However Shido's harem isn't just in the main manga, there is repeating jokes about how Tohka and Origami can't stand each other and things like that, but nothing serious at all. ART Like the story light and fluffy, not really too much detail and it all was chibi form. There are some good emotion drawing as well, even when just drawing chibi's. CHARACTERS Same as anime- All pretty much crazy for Shido. Each character is quirky and have a different personality. But other than that nothing much to say on this section (Read my Date A Live 2 anime review if you want more). So overall, read if you have watched/read the main series and you want something light and don't mind chibi's. -ANGELBEATSYUI-
Large heads. Unmoving faces. Stiff poses. I don't care for the vertical oval eyes on several of the characters and cutesy-poopsy chibi style in general gets old very quick. The simplistic effects in the backgrounds are only slightly better than if they had been left as blank spaces. The comics focus on Shido and the girls around fem, with most of the humor coming from the character quirks of Origami and Tohka. Origami is a stalker whose stalking is made into jokes. Tohka is someone with low intelligence whose ignorance and lack of common sense are made into jokes. None of the humor is amazing, but it does a decent enough job within this format. I'm sure for people familiar with the original series, the nostalgia and recognition factor will add an extra layer of humor that I can't appreciate. I liked the joke where Origami was justifying licking Shido's neck. I didn't like the jokes sexualizing baby-Shido ("I've reached the realm of adulthood," Origami says after presumably molesting a baby's dick). And, yes, there is a chapter where Shido turns into a baby. There are also robot versions of the two main girls. And a quiz show chapter. The manga's just having fun with the personalities and love triangle, as it were.
