Dandadan is a mix of Horror, Funny and Wholesome. A story about 2 friends on a mission to exorcise Yokai and defeat Aliens.

Dandadan is wholesome in its portrayal of characters, no one ends up being particularly unlikeable. Even the "villains" of the story have a good motivation. It is truly amazing when an author can make you feel for a villain.

The horror elements are so creepy and unique to this sort of action manga. Yokai and aliens resemble something out of your nightmare. Which makes them excellent villains, but also feels extra harsh when you hear their backstories.

Comedy is subjective and you will have to read the manga to see if you like this sort of humour.

Also, there is some real girl power here. This is definitely a shonen-esque story but it's not limited to typical shounen cliches. This is because unlike typical Shueisha manga, which gets printed in shonen jump, this is their online-only manga plus, series. This gives authors more freedom to tell their stories.

Warning

Ok now that we have gotten the good out of the way, let us take about a drawback.

This manga has some serious depictions of assault on humans, by aliens/yokai. Although the assaults never amount to anything, our heroes manage to escape before anything happens. The depiction here is pretty rough. Without spoiling too much. There are two particular scenes, where a girl, Momo, is naked and about to be assaulted by bad guys. It never gets to a point of being too explicit. This obviously leans into the horror/scary side of the manga. But the depictions are pretty rough. And If you are someone who finds this unappealing or offensive you should avoid this manga. Especially for people who may have experienced a traumatic event themselves, this could be triggering.

Manga is supposed to be enjoyed and you shouldn't force yourself to read anything that you are not comfortable with.

Conclusion

Dandadan is in the top 10 manga by Shueisha. And is currently free to read. I recommend reading the first 5 chapters to see if this aligns with your taste. This manga has a fresh concept and is genuinely the best thing I read this year.

I highly recommend this to everyone.

I wasn't sure about this at first. But it turns out that it's hilarious. This one is so much more than the sum of its parts.

It has similar humourous tones as compared to One Punch Man and Mob Psycho in the way that the characters are played off of each other, but with some teen angst and raunchiness thrown in.

It may not be for everyone, but it's one of my favorites so far just because of the excellent character dynamics.

the best thing this manga offers is uniqueness. the characters are both diverse at first and the overall world-building is also well made.

TL;DR - Hilarious, over-the-top, and extremely entertaining. Would recommend.

Wow. This manga starts off kinda weird with super weird characters and a super weird premise. Everything is extremely over-the-top in Kill La Kill fashion, but the artwork is incredibly good and the characters are dynamic and interesting. You actually kinda care about the characters, and there are some really funny moments.

I'm only 4 chapters in, but if this is how we're starting then I'm really looking forward to what comes next.

Here's a random fight scene:

so far i would consider this a mix between jujutsu kaisen and chainsaw man with some crack mixed in

I would generally reccomend this manga, however if you do not like fanservice i would give this one a miss.

The storyline is great and so funny too!
