It's tough being on the front lines for an evil organization, and nobody knows this better than No. 6, a Combatant for the Kisaragi Secret Society. Dispatched to a distant alien world on a reconnaissance mission, he's got a new android partner, but how are you supposed to plan an interstellar invasion--of a fantasy world?!

I can definitely appreciate the humor of this series. Combatant Number Six is mischievous, horny, and dumb and feir attitude and outbursts create some genuinely funny moments. And having the idea of fem wanting to rack up Misdeed Points makes it so there's always the possibility of fem doing something somewhat inappropriate or lewd (like flipping skirts) in any given situation. You see, fe works for an evil organization and they use Misdeed Points as a way to measure feir success at being "evil." Fe ends up in a situation where fe's leading a small military unit (made up of quirky characters) in a certain kingdom's fights against the demon king and other stuff. The tactics fem and feir android partner, Alice, come up with are usually underhanded and lacking in any honor (which can be pretty funny). Characters' personalities feel somewhat fluid, where they'll emphasize certain traits over others depending on what the current plot calls for. The first ten chapters are a bit more fresh and fun, whereas the chapters after that start to feel a bit more hollow and aimless. They still include some funny moments, but I don't like how it starts including some pseudo-heroism and sappiness. [Reviewed at chapter 28]
From the creator of KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!, Combatants Will Be Dispatched! focuses on Sentouin Roku-go, a.k.a. Combatant No. 6, who is a member of the Secret Society Kisaragi; the most evil organization, which has but one aim: world domination. One day, Combatant No. 6 receives a new mission, he needs to investigate an unknown world: make a survey on the local creatures, if there are local people, he will need to spy on their military power. He, together with an android Alice, will investigate a new world to later on dominate it. Will Combatant No. 6 and his cute android assistant succeed in their quest to world’s domination?Akatsuki Natsume knows how a true comedy should look like. There are just so many parodies, take for example: Metal Gear, Dragon Ball, Rance, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!,Hyperdimension Neptunia, Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite Kaku Tatakaeri and many many more. There is an understandable and interesting story: Combatant No. 6 and Alice are teleported to an unknown alien planet. They find out that there is a war on the planet: the Grace Kingdom (the human race) is attacked by the Country of Sand (the demon race and other monsters.) Because of the large number of demons, their country was desertified, and so the demon race decides to take and enslave the Grace Kingdom. That is why, the two staff member of the Secret Society Kisaragi will need to adopt a position and to help either humans, or demons. This, of course, will involve a ton of comedy. You might notice some similarities with Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, however, they are very different. Sometimes you will just laugh and you will not be able to restrain yourself, because Combatants Will Be Dispatched! is sometimes even more random than KonoSuba and Gintama. All in all, Akatsuki Natsume uses a very overused beyond tolerable genre, makes it unique, adds some great comedy and parodies and, bravo, you have Combatants Will Be Dispatched! With that being said, if Konosuba was an enjoyable read/watch for you, it does not mean anything. Konosuba and Combatants Will Be Dispatched! are absolutely different, however, they are among the best comedies to find. Do look forward to the anime adaptation.
