I would say that this is one of Junji Ito's better oneshots. The premise is creepy and simple and it works well as a short story. It plays into discomfort with death and, more specifically, with a fear of ghosts or zombies or the afterlife. The plot is highly structured, to the point that it requires quite a suspension of disbelief to accept the developments that occur, but the structure itself is alright enough (if a bit nonsensical at times). The characters are bland and the artwork is nothing to write home about. I think the background details are done very well, and I like some of the texturing, but the people aren't the greatest.
