This was great. I read it before I read The Tyrant Falls in Love. It is much shorter so the characters do not have a chance to develop as much but it is amazing. The relationship between the two is different as Tomeo is asexual in attractions and lifestyle. I loved seeing their story and looked forward to seeing them more in The Tyrant Falls in Love.

I really only read Challengers because of it's sequel/spin-off Koisuru Boukun, or Tyrant Falls in Love.  So I love the universe the mangaka set up but don't necessarily like the characters they chose to focus on in this series.  I give them props for including that Tomoe isn't attracted to anyone and never has been since asexual characters are so rare in any form of media explicitly, but in general Kurokawa is boring and I was never in love with him as a seme like I was with Morinaga.  I'm glad the mangaka evolved in more than just their art but Challengers will never be a favorite of mine like Koisuru Boukun is.
