I read this when I was 12 years old. It was my favorite manga. I was never able to finish it until today, 20 years later. WOW. I should not have been reading this when I was 12. There is so much problematic about this manga I was shocked reading it from the beginning.  It romanticizes rape, pedophelia, sexual assult, incest, suicide, domestic abuse...  The overwhelming theme is that women are objects of procreation and objectification. Literally in the first volume Aya's classmates say, "All you need to do to control a woman is kiss them." And then for the rest of the series we see her continue to be controlled by unconsensual kisses.  The love story is a 16 year old school girl gets kissed by a seemingly 22 year old man and instantly falls in love. He kissed her to shut her up. And now they're in love. They've never talked or had a conversation, but they're in love. He lets her stay at his house, when they barely have a relationship, and they have sex. On their first time genuinely hanging out. Again, she's 16. When I was 12 I thought Tooya was the ultimate man. Yikes. Despite everything I still enjoyed this manga. It's insanely problematic, the art is unclear sometimes, the plot has high points and low points, and its view on women and men is pretty horrible, but it was still fun to read. It's kind of like listening to "Summer Girls" by LFO as an adult. The lyrics are so horrible, but the nostalgia and melody still make it one of my favorite songs. The manga has a lot of flaws, but it's still one of my favorite art styles and entertaining.  Just keep your expectations low.
