Straight to the point. The beginning killed the show.

Imagine a chain of tragedy events, died once and death stalking U, impossible love AND the main character runs around like a happy child. Yay this is amazing, yay this is beautiful, yay he is handsome, yay it's a book about geys.

I mean the next chapter after the last death scene just killed my expectations. I think the talented maid was better (almost similar plot).

To sum it up. I'm sure after 10 chapters U'll know what to expect :) But don't expect anything too deep.

Y'know, whenever I see stories like these I always ask myself "whats the damn point of this?" The plot is boring, MC is terribly dumb, bland and dense most of the time and ML's only redeeming qualities is that he's hot af but we never get to see any NSFW content so whats the DAMN. POINT???? Ughh

Ok, let me be clear. I'm not here to say this is the best thing I've ever read, but I'm not going to say that it's horrible and that your shouldn't read it. Lots of scenes are comedic and such.

About this:

FL - medical knowladge, smart in general, great FL in all, of course the FL might slip or mess up sometimes but tbh thats not a big deal

ML - psychopath that kills a lot, sad backstory, kinda eh for a ML, his only redeeming quality is that he's handsome which doesn't really make me like him at all

Other characters - lots of detail and character (compared to other mangas/manhwas i've read before), wide variety

Author - nice art! I didn't think that horses purr but I searched it up and it's because of their breathing that makes it sound like a purr. Good detail on that part!

All in all - Good story, some parts could be better though. I haven't read all the updated chapters yet but I'm excited to see where this goes

Some notes: I would love the story if the FL wouldn't like the ML. He was about to kill you but you're going to be like "oh my god he gave me a sandwich" or whatever? Come on.

I don't get why people give hate to this manhwa. To me, I did wish that the female lead had a little more of a confident personality but, overall for me the story was really good. If you wanna give hate to this manhwa, do it somewhere else bitches. ( ̄へ ̄ 凸

Did I create an account just to review this story?

Yes. Yes I did.

So expect a long review Ladies and Gentlemen.

I pretty much knew in the first handful of chapters that Beatrice is not for me but I still made myself read up to chp12 because of the positive reviews and thought I should give it the benefit of the doubt but then I had to stop because...dear God.

Let's get into it

Positives:

The artist obviously knows how to draw an attractive man. In fact, it seemed like more effort was put into designing the ML than there was the MC of the story, which is a new one for me.

Ok, now that's out of the way, time for the Negatives:

I understand that Isekai is a very popular genre, but that's no excuse to shoe-horn it into a story. Superheros are popular too but that doesn't mean you can have Iron Man flying around in the background of your scenes. If the MC is actually older than she looks and has experienced something as world changing as literal world changing, then why make her so naive? She ends up getting turned into a slave after becoming a prisoner of war but acts as if she just got herself a new job. Like  she repeatedly says stuff like, "Who knew being a slave could be so hard?". Who knew?! Everyone! Literally everyone should know that being a slave isn't such a happy fun time. Especially the MC. I’m all for making the most out of a bad situation but not to the point that you become delusional.

The Isekai was just so needless and felt like the author didn't respect their art enough not to follow the trend. And if the author doesn't respect the story, then why should their readers?

Speaking of respect, let's go back to the ML because he is pretty much the entire reason that I could not continue the story. His decision to murder the royals of the kingdom he just conquered is not the issue, it would actually be weird if he didn't in this context. What I did have a problem with was how he treated the princess that wasn't the MC. Because she compared him to his father, the ML gets all butthurt and decides to cut her down her chest as if to strip her naked. Meanwhile, all his creepy cronies are standing around making jokes about her getting raped and about her breast size. They degraded her so much that the boss-princess who was standing up for herself, ends up begging to die. Full on, on her knees begging. Adding insult to injury, after killing her, the ML orders to have her body displayed with her dress torn so she would be humiliated in death as well. Were we supposed to think she deserved such a death because she wanted to stand up for herself in her last moments?

I've read a lot of comments excusing the character's behaviour for two reasons...

  1. At least he's not as bad as the red haired guy
  2. This is just what it was like back then

...which I want to address

  1. What kind of low bar are we setting for the ML of romances that we have to say to ourselves 'oh, at least he's not the rapist?'. Are we supposed to give him a reward?
  2. Aside from the fact that this is supposed to be an Isekai, it is not set in our world. Or the fact that human decency is not something that was suddenly invented in the 21st century (historically, people had different moral codes to that of today depending on culture and social norms, but they still very much had them). Beatrice is a romance written for 21st century readers. It's not written for people 'back then', whenever and whoever they are

We should be able to like (or even love) the characters who lead the stories we read. The MC shouldn't come off as an out of touch airhead while the ML is a walking piece of garbage. And no, him having a dark past is not an excuse. I'm so over this trope of writing toxic men and then half way adding in that he was sad as a kid because of blah blah blah (I really don’t care) so how dare you not love him. It just makes me dislike him even more because he knows how awful it feels to be a victim but still humiliates and degrades people weaker than him. I'd call him a red flag but that would be an insult to red flags.

Support Green Flags, Ladies and Gents, they are so much better for the soul.

xx

P.S. When the ML said that 'she's not like the other girls' cliche, I died a little inside.
