Maybe I'm just reading into this too much, but I kinda felt that Akari was like a rudderless ship. Fe feels love and probably has an impression that love is supposed to be all-consuming and passionate, so fe suggests grand gestures and says things like fe'd be willing to give up everything else in feir life as long as fe had their love. And fe tries to tell femself that love alone is enough for fem to be happy--that distance and even their relationship possibly getting cut short by death doesn't matter as long as they were able to have this pure and perfect love. At the end, I sorta felt like this manga acted as a subtle condemnation of people who dramatize their love and gush over-the-top promises without necessarily thinking them through. When people talk about love, they like to use flowery poetic language, but poetry is often hyperbolic and exaggerated.
