Although she is a 15 year-old girl who dreams of being in a romantic relationship, China grew up to be very boyish. Now that she's in high school, she meets a cute (kind of short) boy named Haruka, and a big genius-boy named Shindou...
What can I say about this? The art looks flat and sketchy, in a bad way. It's a story that covers three years of high school in only four chapters, so obviously there are quite a few time cuts jumping forward several months to the next relevant scenes. But it flows together well. It follows China (sometimes nicknamed "Kinder"), a boyish girl who wants to experience love, and in doing so, discovers her femininity. The two boys in her life are Haruka, an impish type guy, and Shindou, who's stoic and steadfast. They are both important emotional support for her, and she cares about them. But are either of them her soulmates? Is the idea of soulmates just a silly notion her high-school mind latched onto? And would the story have progressed differently if she hadn't convinced herself that soulmates exist?
