gotta say i was very impressed with cortez's twitter post that pointed out that at the new members induction for democrats there wasnt a single representative from unions or workers rights groups but there was lots of representatives from big bussness and mega corps.
really happy and impressed with many of the new grass roots members, they prob wont be able to get rid of the horrible globalist anti human war mongering neo liberals but they are certainly reigning them in!

The trump Russia and shutdown things are Just a dog and pony show designed to keep people looking in that direction instead of looking at the really horrible shit the US empire is quietly doing in the back ground!
 
He's made the wall his Waterloo. He can't budge now. Kind of a dumb gamble after losing the House, but maybe he thought more people would turn against the dems except anyone with common sense knows we haven't built a wall before now because it is completely infeasible. Whether you agree with the thing or not it's an impossible project that would take decades to complete at an astronomic cost. It would be terrible for the surrounding ecology of the area. Unless the entire thing was manned it wouldn't even be effective.

It's a dumb vanity project and the sad part is he knows it. He's just preying on the gullible. It does make any difference to him that the wall is impossible. It won't come back to bite him anytime in his life time.

It never ceases to amaze me, that people can be so dismissive of a veiw point they don't understand or information they are ignorant of or a person they dis agree with!
Also why even make that reply? Your just proving the points that new member raised with turkeyg that he posted about,
On personal note, its been over a year since the election thing isn't it time to bury the hatchet!
 
Problems with Trump's using the wall as a hill-to-die-on:

1. You had two years of Republicans controlling the Presidency, the House, and the Senate. Why didn't you do it then?

2. A wall can be climbed over, dug under, flown over, gone around, and otherwise circumvented in many, many ways. Why aren't we investing instead in the technology to detect crossings, and the manpower to investigate them?

3. The easiest way to get into the United States illegally is to come here as a tourist (or student or other visitor) and then overstay one's visa. Why aren't we addressing that instead of arguing over a wall?

4. It's far easier to drive drugs across the border and smuggle them through a legit port of entry, than to take a difficult trek through the desert. If drug smuggling is the issue, why aren't we investing more money into manpower, technology, K-9s, etc. to detect and intercept this avenue of entry?

5. Our border agents currently have trouble keeping track of even children who cross the border. Why aren't we investing in the manpower to monitor them better -- particularly, why aren't we hiring more database engineers to design, implement, and maintain the resources (including making it possible for databases in different departments to cross-reference each other) to keep track of border-crossers?

6. A number of people try to enter the US illegally because it takes frackin' forever to be granted permission to stay in the US indefinitely legally. Why can't we hire more personnel to process these applications?

7. More potential terrorists arrive by airports or from Canada, than Mexico. Why aren't we hiring more people to secure our air travel? For that matter, why aren't we talking about building a wall with Canada?

8. Whose bright idea was it to fight for national security by...not paying the Coast Guard? (Or the TSA agents? or a ton of other people involved in national security jobs in government...)



The reasons:

* "Build a wall" is a sexier campaign promise than "hire more database engineers". (Seriously, you try getting a crowd to chant "hire more database engineers". Apologies to database engineers, as well as to the rest of us who are subject to the folly of having public policy made by people who don't realize that database engineers are important.)

* Mr. Trump shitposted campaign promises, and now he's running up against the ugly reality that shitposting does not make good (or even simply prudently-strategically-good-for-your-side) public policy.
 
All of y'all are hating on the wall, but it works in the bigger picture: It's to flex on China's Great Wall. With all the shit they're doing and threatening the American Economic hedgemony with their cheaper products and spy kids phones and shit, they need this wall to say "We got this wall to completely block off a country, your wall ain't shit so in America, SUCK IT" and Trump dabs for the perfect picture. Shit goes wild, America is saved, everybody is happy and America is back to being America, the greatest fucking bestest country in the whole world.

It'll be built in a few weeks, a few months tops. Way before his second term is up. That's the power of illegal immigrant labour and American ingenuity to get shit done. Also not having too many Teamsters for the wall. And no President before had the intellectual ingenuity of watching Ricardio and Mondego enough times to build a wall to keep them Mexicans in Mexico. This is to show the world that America ain't to be fucked with, because they will wall off the South, then the North and create the Great Walls of Murica.

a good starting point would be either abby martins empire file number1 (originally broadcast by telesur (veneswala) but availible onb youtube or the work of chris hedges, in fact another member recently posted one of hisspeech's about trump that went down rather well with the comunity (the one were he compares trump and co to a family that fucks animals and sell's tickets for ppl to watch!)

tbh a much better issue to campaign on for left wingers would be a world wide minimum wage instead of hanging on trumps every word / the trump pony show!
