This also has a special edgelord protagonist bonus so it's like two in one.
Goddamit Zed, don't tempt me into watching this. I've been avoiding shitty isekais for years.

This breaks my heart. Think of all the good times we could have had together.I've been avoiding shitty isekais for years.
You mean you don't want to see how the show brilliantly handles the theme of false rape accusations?Goddamit Zed, don't tempt me into watching this. I've been avoiding shitty isekais for years.

It's totally not done for the sake of shameless victimizing 101 to add some misery porn flavor to this empowerment fantasy.Oh.
Oh, no.
Nope.

Edgy magical girls 103th Season and Hand Shakers 0.2 are most likely gonna attract most the passionate hate from the locals. Though I might pick this up as well since I want to see if this is as stupid as I can remember from the manga.

Now look what y'all gone and made me do.
Episode 1:
I'm not gonna lie, this was actually... okay? I mean, I wasn't super invested in it, but I did care a little, so that's gotta be something good. But Jesus, forty minutes what the everloving fuck.
@Thrawn's commentary made me cry. Felt a lot like he was narrating my innermost thoughts and personal turmoil when that thing happened.
Look, the main character is alright, but I might be a little biased because he's being voiced by Kaito Ishikawa, and I'm always so pleasantly surprised when I find out he's in a show I'm watching. But I like him a lot, lot more because he's so A N G E R Y. Fuck yes, 10/10 would sign up to follow him on his revenge tour to show this ungrateful-ass country what's up. Some companions his first companions were anyway, think they're such hot shits because they got all the pointy things. What is with this shield discrimination anyway? Shield-bearers have rights too, goddammit! Damn, what's it take to get a little respect around here for our defensive brothers and sisters? Defense wins championships, you numbfucks, why don't you all just go die anyway see if I give a shit.
Art's fine, betraitor twist was also fine even if it was really unnecessary I HOPE THAT BITCH DIES IN A FIRE AND CHOKES TO DEATH ON HER JUDAS COINS FUCKING BITCH - but eh, it was fairly obvious she was up to no good at the start. They're really selling the Idiot Hero thing a little too hard here, even if the dumbass thinks he's smart enough to auto-correct the historical book that just so happened to randomly fall on his head.
Are all isekai kingdoms always this ungrateful? You'd think they'd be a little more ecstatic they got four whole-ass heroes, but nooo, they still gotta be choosy and picky and shit on the shield guy. Speaking of the other blokes... I honestly don't know what kind of characters they want to be. They're smart at first, 'cos it's always practical to get a little insurance before helping out your otherworldly kidnappers. But then they turn right around and start sucking the king's cock or whatever, I don't know how else to explain how quickly they turned around to shit on shield guy. That shit was QUICK. Oh, and these guys suck. You know what else sucks? All that headwork they're making me do just to keep up. This show's about to get lost in its own lore soon, I can't wait.
Shield Hero is actually looking pretty okay so far... Even if the only other halfway-decent isekai I know is SAO, so the isekai bar's set a little low here. But I like me some A N G E R Y protagonists with good goddamn reasons to get A N G E R Y, so you know, I'm kinda hoping he becomes the bitchy savior this piss kingdom seems destined for. At least he isn't pulling a Kirito by pretending to be some kinda martyr or some shit. He's about to go all Taylor Swift on this joint and drop some revenge bombs, you just watch.
And boy, how did I know he was gonna go for that cute little slave girl whatever?
Slave Trader also sounds a lot like Nanbu-san from Megalo Box, it's kinda freaky.
I enjoyed the first episode. I thought they did a good job setting tone with the soundtrack.
I don't know why people get so upset about cliches and "twists" that can be seen coming from miles away - it's part of the fun. People must have superhuman patience if they have to enjoy cartoons despite that tendency.
I hated pretty much every character, outside of the MC.

What do you mean, I was SHOCKED when the MC was first transported into a fantasy world, I didn't see it coming.I don't know why people get so upset about cliches and "twists" that can be seen coming from miles away - it's part of the fun. I always liked how these kinds of stories are marketed towards weebs who only know anime and RPG games, yet the protagonists are almost always oblivious about how they work and need something to be explained to them every step of the way.^This does suffer from the cliché excuse for lazy writing
Isekai and amnesia best ways to kickstart a story and have the world be explained and getting back to the real world? Who cares as long as it got game mechanics! ;p
Not sure either, because it is stated in the synop that he gets betrayed...

If the protag knew about RPGs and wasn't one of them otaku non-RPG weebs then he would be OP as fuck and know all this betrayal shit from the get-go but he don't play no storyline RPGs, and is a total virgin by trusting the first thot that gave him the time of day. Trusted a gold-diggin Veronica he did and now he lives in a society that hates him which makes him an honourary gangweed gamer.I always liked how these kinds of stories are marketed towards weebs who only know anime and RPG games, yet the protagonists are almost always oblivious about how they work and need something to be explained to them every step of the way.

Damn, but growing up is a bitch and a half, ain't it.
