The Rising of the Shield Hero

You mean you don't want to see how the show brilliantly handles the theme of false rape accusations?

Episode 1:

I'm not gonna lie, this was actually... okay? I mean, I wasn't super invested in it, but I did care a little, so that's gotta be something good. But Jesus, forty minutes what the everloving fuck.

@Thrawn's commentary made me cry. Felt a lot like he was narrating my innermost thoughts and personal turmoil when that thing happened.

Look, the main character is alright, but I might be a little biased because he's being voiced by Kaito Ishikawa, and I'm always so pleasantly surprised when I find out he's in a show I'm watching. But I like him a lot, lot more because he's so A N G E R Y. Fuck yes, 10/10 would sign up to follow him on his revenge tour to show this ungrateful-ass country what's up. Some companions his first companions were anyway, think they're such hot shits because they got all the pointy things. What is with this shield discrimination anyway? Shield-bearers have rights too, goddammit! Damn, what's it take to get a little respect around here for our defensive brothers and sisters? Defense wins championships, you numbfucks, why don't you all just go die anyway see if I give a shit.

Art's fine, betraitor twist was also fine even if it was really unnecessary I HOPE THAT BITCH DIES IN A FIRE AND CHOKES TO DEATH ON HER JUDAS COINS FUCKING BITCH - but eh, it was fairly obvious she was up to no good at the start. They're really selling the Idiot Hero thing a little too hard here, even if the dumbass thinks he's smart enough to auto-correct the historical book that just so happened to randomly fall on his head.

Are all isekai kingdoms always this ungrateful? You'd think they'd be a little more ecstatic they got four whole-ass heroes, but nooo, they still gotta be choosy and picky and shit on the shield guy. Speaking of the other blokes... I honestly don't know what kind of characters they want to be. They're smart at first, 'cos it's always practical to get a little insurance before helping out your otherworldly kidnappers. But then they turn right around and start sucking the king's cock or whatever, I don't know how else to explain how quickly they turned around to shit on shield guy. That shit was QUICK. Oh, and these guys suck. You know what else sucks? All that headwork they're making me do just to keep up. This show's about to get lost in its own lore soon, I can't wait.

Shield Hero is actually looking pretty okay so far... Even if the only other halfway-decent isekai I know is SAO, so the isekai bar's set a little low here. But I like me some A N G E R Y protagonists with good goddamn reasons to get A N G E R Y, so you know, I'm kinda hoping he becomes the bitchy savior this piss kingdom seems destined for. At least he isn't pulling a Kirito by pretending to be some kinda martyr or some shit. He's about to go all Taylor Swift on this joint and drop some revenge bombs, you just watch.

And boy, how did I know he was gonna go for that cute little slave girl whatever?

Slave Trader also sounds a lot like Nanbu-san from Megalo Box, it's kinda freaky.

I enjoyed the first episode. I thought they did a good job setting tone with the soundtrack.

I don't know why people get so upset about cliches and "twists" that can be seen coming from miles away - it's part of the fun. People must have superhuman patience if they have to enjoy cartoons despite that tendency.

Edgy magical girls 103th Season and Hand Shakers 0.2 are most likely gonna attract most the passionate hate from the locals. Though I might pick this up as well since I want to see if this is as stupid as I can remember from the manga.

You gotta watch this hot shit that is the hottest shit out of all the hot shit this season. And Gangsta Bustin Caps POP POP DOMINO MOTHERFUCKAAAAAAAAH Magical Girls and Hand Shitters S2 maaaaaan you gotta watch all this good shit homie!

This also has a special edgelord protagonist bonus so it's like two in one.

Which makes this the best show of the season!

Goddamit Zed, don't tempt me into watching this. I've been avoiding shitty isekais for years.

You can't miss on 3 episodes max of hot sexy Thrawn commentary! It's the show that beats all shows!

Now look what y'all gone and made me do.

See? These two know what's what on this being the hottest shit since hot shit high son, one of them hot shits last season. This high culture is the highest quality of culturality and y'all can learn from them.

I hated pretty much every character, outside of the MC.

Well, that's kinda the point of the show isn't it? ;p

Altough, tease, not all is cut and dried...but that won't be happeneing this season.

Not sure either, because it is stated in the synop that he gets betrayed...

^This does suffer from the cliché excuse for lazy writing

Isekai and amnesia best ways to kickstart a story and have the world be explained and getting back to the real world? Who cares as long as it got game mechanics! ;p
I always liked how these kinds of stories are marketed towards weebs who only know anime and RPG games, yet the protagonists are almost always oblivious about how they work and need something to be explained to them every step of the way.

BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH nobody reads the synopsis so it comes as a total surprise to errybody. But also BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH in that it's totally out of left-field after the batter called left field.

What do you mean, I was SHOCKED when the MC was first transported into a fantasy world, I didn't see it coming.

That is the kind of revolutionary shit we need, but with 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE from 4 DIFFERENT JAPANS. That is some revolutionary ass shit son! 4 different modern Japans, with only one of them focusing on reading and shit and some weeb Pokeweeb Go on the PC with boat waifus MC is playing instead of RPGs like a true Japanese weeb.

If the protag knew about RPGs and wasn't one of them otaku non-RPG weebs then he would be OP as fuck and know all this betrayal shit from the get-go but he don't play no storyline RPGs, and is a total virgin by trusting the first thot that gave him the time of day. Trusted a gold-diggin Veronica he did and now he lives in a society that hates him which makes him an honourary gangweed gamer.

It's not the twist I'm shitting on, it's the telegraphed way it was executed. I could have read about the twist in the summary, but I could still be surprised by it if the show revealed it properly.

Here, it was just the standard lingering pause on the woman's face that did it, plus that ominous I'M SO CUNNING I'M SO OBVIOUSLY PLANNING SOMETHING look on her face. So you know, it just looked funny and obvious to me.

Gotta accommodate the weebs' girlfriends and girl friends too. If the MC is dumb as shit about the gaming world, it gives the weebs a chance to act high and mighty by explaining everything to the other lesser beings in the room.

Damn, but growing up is a bitch and a half, ain't it.

Damn, but growing up is a bitch and a half, ain't it.

You grow up by these skank ass money grubbing hos just jacking all your coinage knawimean, flashing and battin dem eyes and homie who don't know better is taken in because thots paying attention to his weeb ass only for the ho to trip and rob him and turn errybody up in here against him and only then does he grow up knowing "Girls ain't bitches but bitch ass hos and tricks".

Sheet, that's a punk ass way to grow up ain't it big homie.

You know, since so little is out right now of this season, I should probably try out this show-

I'm doing the lord's work here.

Actually wait a second, are people thinking western cultural issues or politics when they're reading my post instead of.. Well
It's totally not done for the sake of shameless victimizing 101 to add some misery porn flavor to this empowerment fantasy.
That.

After watching the first half of the first episode of Goblin Slayer, my tolerance of certain anime BS is nonexistent. So, until Japan can learn to not trivialize certain things (which won't happen), if I even get a hint of certain topics in an anime I am completely out. So, that stuff (which I swear I don't remember being a thing in pretty much any anime I'd even heard of until Goblin Slayer) is on the same list as underage sexual shit when it comes to things I will not put up with in anime. It shouldn't even be a common enough issue to have to actively think about it, but....anime. Just, anime :cereal:
