I really would love to know why they decided to take the direction they did in this adaptation. I know they gave a heads up they were going to rewrite a few things, but now that the show is over, all they did was cut and speedrun the rest of the story and changed the ending. It's mind-boggling, the manga was finished.
I gave this 3/10, it was going to be 4 and then the last five minutes with the Powerpoint slides running through what could've been a season 3 really rubbed me the wrong way. This is purely speculation, but I wonder if they were originally going to do a season 3, saw the negative reactions midway season 2, then just decided to crash it into the ground now to cut their losses vs dragging it out for a 3rd season.
Promised Neverland's manga was such a huge hit and sold incredibly well. I think if they stuck to adapting the original story, it still would have been profitable and CloverWorks could have had a hit series to continue working on for probably four or so seasons. I'm just so curious on the motive behind the writing decisions with the show; season 2 had none of the intricacies you felt in TPN's original plot and character developments/interactions.
Anyways, allow me to be the 63rd person to reiterate you should read the manga instead and that it's worth checking out.
