Television Discussion

Besides watching anime, I've gotten back into Kdrama's/Cdrama's/Jdrama's in the past few months.

Navillera: I really like this one so far, but I haven't been current on it in awhile.

The Untamed: I actually started watching this last year due to a friends recommendation, but because I've been busy with other things, I haven't watched this as much as I'd like to. Anyway, I'm really enjoying this too, even though it's really hard for me to remember all the character names, and the plot is kinda confusing to me so far. Also, I don't see how this is a BL, (I'm only on episode 12, so maybe it'll become noticeable in later episodes) but whatev.

Midnight Diner: There were several "what the heck" moments, but overall I loved this.

Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman: I tried to like this, but it was just too awkward & cringey for me in most parts. Yeah, some of it was interesting, (AKA the food) but other than that, it was way too over the top for me personally.

And I finished Ben 10: Alien Force season 1:
The season finale pretty much introduced Ben's 10th new alien, X. And the alien is pretty powerful, it rewind-ed time before the dam got destroyed. But there's definitely a high cost to using it, since Ben got stuck in an endless argument with the love and rage parts of X. It was funny seeing Ben getting carried around stuck in the same position.
But yeah, its been a slow burner, which I'm fine with.

Fun story about that episode: Back when it aired, they hyped up this big thing they were doing with Star Wars. Like they'd run that commercial 2 or 3 times a commercial break, and always mention how during it this big ol' Star Wars thing was coming. Turns out it was just the crappy CG cartoon.

it's family/tween friendly. I found it over on Prime, however it's part of Discovery kids. it's based around teenagers and high school goes by the name of Strange Days at Blake Holsey High. if you're interested https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337539/ was needing something light and nothing I had to read. I am working back into anime/manga but right now my escape point isn't centered around that. with this show there's a lot of science, also got some bullying, self bullying, conflicts, romance, mild violence, etc. I thought it was a cute series, I don't know if a young child would understand the science part even though they are good about explaining things, however older no problem. so if you're looking to watch something with the younger ones in your life, here's an idea (if you can find it).

Yeah, I think I'm just gonna stop now with Kung-Fu. They seem way more interested in corrupt businessman plots, political messages and boring family drama stories than actual kung-fu. Cripes, episode 3 took almost 50 minutes for a fight scene and it lasted all of 10 seconds. This show sucks.

Halfway through season 2 of Big Mouth, and I have to say it's like watching a completely different show. Season one is an endless variation of "half the population bleeds and rebels when going through puberty, half masturbates and watches porn, and all the parents suck" episodic skits that may need to some time to get used to (again, I watch South Park, so I'm used to this shit), but then season 2 hits you with the Shame Wizard, and the body positivity ep, and the friendzone discussion, and child neglect, and drugs, and not-yet-going-through-puberty-while-everyone-around-you-does... but I particularly have to highlight the sex ed episode, because I'm amazed with how they managed to tackle issues like contraception, STDs, cancer, or abortion in such an educational, relevant, and mature way:

And most of all, I'm surprised at the sheer depth of all of the characters, because I definitely didn't see that one coming, and some scenes are really starting to hit the feels. Overall it kinda makes sense in a narrative way, too, with season 1 being sort of an intro to it all, and season 2 evolving and tackling bigger issues, as the kids themselves grow and start dealing with more stuff. I just hope season 3 follows suit. Oh, and Matthew definitely needs more space.

Update: Jesus, show, I came here for the cheap fart jokes and light-hearted stupidity, not a reality check

...Dude, are you high or something? The words "Mature", "Educational" and "Depth" should never be applied to this show.

Have you seen it?
I've seen enough clips online and heard enough about it. I'd sooner chug bleach than actually watch an entire episode. Like that bit where, and I loathe that I have to type this,
those dudes whack off on a cracker and force the slowest one to eat it.
Sounds like a really mature, in-depth show...
