If this show isn't 50% hardcore shoji action with the hot-blooded intensity of children's card games, it'll be crud.
Is this for real? Episode One Was like, meh, a Shogi slice-of-life. Don't know how to play so this probably won't work for me. Oh. Loli breaks into the guys house to demand to be his disciple. No questioning how she broke in. Just go with it. And then she becomes a human computer by acting like she's riding a dude. And then she stays overnight at essentially a strangers house. And after a rough and hard night of riding that Shogi, he forces her to cook for him. And cue generic shot of food being leveled into mouth, mastication noises, and elevate the shot the guy's glittering eyes as he realizes that the girl can use a rice cooker. Sugoi. Oh, and then in the afterglow of that meal, time for a shower in his bathtub. Are we sure her parents are cool with this? Did I need a shot of her in the shower? She's fucking nine. And she walks out and he sees her naked. Spoiler: NSFW Doh! Never seen this before in anime have you? And it's even better because she's NINE! You'll excuse me if this is where I bow out of this anime.

Mujaki no Rakuen all over again, but with an older guy in an older body instead of a younger body. I will force myself to watch this, because I'm feeling a bit too non-degenerate for my taste.
Not as good as i expected, but my expectations were pretty high. In comparison to others above i'd say it was fine. Spoiler: Episode 1 How did that thing got in his house? AAAAnnnnnnnnddd she's 9 years old. Great. WHERE THE HELL ARE HER PARENTS?! Why is she naked? Why is she STILL naked!? He have a lock on his door that can't be opened from the outside... Just saying. His sister is nice.. :3 Oh she's a SM.. nvm ^-^ SO. I had super high expectations for the story, mostly because of some youtube video i saw. (Last time i do that!) But yeah i expected it to be top-tier story, but in the end nope. Instead i had a /somewhat funny/ time with a generic dude, his sister and a kid. Didn't expected it to be funny so i enjoyed that part. Sadly the match of -insert the name of the game here- weren't kakegurui style... Actually they were they really boring and didn't look good. (I want details!) Even after that i kinda liked it? I can't really tell why.. Maybe because of how wrong i was when i started it and then maybe the second ep is going to feel different, so yeah i'll give it a second ep for now. Might be because for once someone said something that makes sense? (Honestly wtf was that part) (-by that part i mean the whole show.) Well never mind on that too.. YES IT F*KING DOES! O.O Just ask she's 9 she can't lie. eh?

Episode 1 I always hoped that when I eventually ended up in prison it would be for doing something I really enjoyed. Instead, no. It'll be for this anime Mad Libs. Choose a hobby! __Shogi__ Choose a childhood friend! _Sadist_ Choose a trope! _Chuuni_ Choose a deviance! _Pedophilia_ "Pfft, hahaha, this is gonna be good!" Inserts selections into anime template I swear, officer, I wasn't aware the 9 y/o loli would be arbitrarily naked for 10% of the show! ... @GenSan made me do it! Aaaaaand now I'll be trapped in lock up with a rep as both a pedobear AND a rat. Goodbye, cruel world.

The Warden is an asshole who will force a headset on you through which you will watch nothing but depraved anime and lewd gelbooru slide shows. The worst part...your arms are restrained to the arms of the uncomfortable chair he sits you in. Thus you can neither use your hands to bring you the sweet release of death, nor the sweet release of release. Anime is Hell.
I'd rather be trapped in Evil or Live, doomed to dropped frames and inconsistent backgrounds & character designs for all time.
As a prisoner in Weeb Prison (I was taken in for Eromanga Sensei) I can say that the Warden does mistakenly put in a good or mildly enjoyable anime occasionally. But he balances that with Sword Art Online and other devices of torture. He may not always win...but eventually we all break.
You know, the sad thing is, this was legitimately voted the number one best new light novel in Japan from fans and critics in 2017. Just let that sink in for a moment, light novel standards man.
As I've discussed everywhere the past couple weeks, light novels are the bane of anime. They are poorly written, skeletal scripts for anime. So rarely have I seen a well-written light novel (in fact, Monogatari is the only LN I've found to have any literary merit). It's so bizarre that a country that is supposedly trying to fix its image and crack down on the child porn and so forth allows its popular media to be so full of, essentially, softcore child porn. And like, I just think this trope and the lolicon pandering is getting worse and worse.
Episode 1 One the one hand: I won't want to end up on a watchlist of some kind and this was boring as all hell if you don't know shogi moves On the other hand: I enjoy the pain I inflict on my housemates by playing this on the full-wall projector.... On the other, other hand: Do I really need to pick up this show this season? On the other, other, other hand: I watched King's Game and Handshakers... Well, that settles it. I'm in for the season of Shogi-Loli's. May god save us all.
