Rent-A-Girlfriend

Excuse me? Quality > Quantity
First off, I am SHOCKED by the moment in Ep. 3 where we found out that Chizuru is bustier than Mami. That just doesn't...seem like it should be true.

Second--Chizuru and Mami are all but on equal footing. Aside from the somewhat foolish distinction in their bosoms, it's just math. And the totals are basically the same:
  • Chizuru is gorgeous, while Mami is "just" super-cute.
  • Mami, though, is SEXY. Chizuru is stunning, but not specifically sexy (though, casual-nerd Chizuru...mmmmm).
  • ...I swear I had a third line to put, here, when I started this...

(Good heavens...what if the other girls really equally good looking?!)

I can't have Yukata-Mami if we don't leave the beach
That...is...WAIT--what if they set off fireworks at night?! Daytime bikini-Mami, nighttime yukata-Mami?

It's the theme of this whole thing, guys, seriously--WE GET BOTH.

I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade (especially on mami-chan's fans), but is there a confirmation Mami is going to be there, in the onsen episode? We saw Chizuru and granny only in the post-ed trailer.

Don't...don't.. ruin my only hopes for this show..

I dunno it seems hard to have FOUR good waifus in a single show like this.. I think that one will end up being the trash one (Nico Nico Ni~) and the other just average. I still don't know which one is which tho.

I another show would I might already try to judge them based on the design, but so far they have been very good in making the characters all wear many distinct outfits, so I'll wait.

The shy girl is probably confirmed and the pic on the char page here points at some -dere girl? I’d say tsundere or yandere could be. She has a cutesy ribbon for a crazy yandere though.

But you cannot have too much tsundere.
You can have too much tsundere when it's badly done. I am a tsundere purist, I love my Rin tohsaka, starts tsun, prideful and angry with Shirou for being ignorant and stupid, but then she begins to like and care of him and shows here dere side. Love it, amazing characters, great development, top tier waifu.

But then we have the "tsundere" girls that just fucking punch the mc for no reason and keep yelling at him for every little things he says, those are just trash and the only ones who like them are masochists, whether they know it or not.

I love my Rin tohsaka
Huh. I wonder who...

Unless they blush and pout, when they do it, right? It can't be sadism if they blush and pout.

...right?

...right?
Just accept your M side. If you accept it, no one can shame you for it.

If you need help accepting it I suggest MM!, it might help you understand yourself better.
Here is the synopsis "Seeking a cure for his depraved masochism, Taro Sado approaches the Second Volunteer Club on the recommendation of his best friend, Tatsukichi. There he finds the help of the violent but kind Mio Isurugi who promises to beat the masochism out of him by any means necessary. Will Taro be able to survive the assaults of this upperclassman, the overly-affectionate attentions of his mother and sister, and still lead a normal school life? Unlikely. But will he get over his perverse fetish? He sure hopes so."

NekusS knows (and not only through his cool, classy and cultural Hanekawa sig). Rin Tohsaka needs some love. Smart tsuns like her or Makise are the BAE.

NO NO NO WHAT THE FUCK SIMP YOU ARE NOT ALLOW TO TOUCH MAMI EVEN IN YOUR FUCKING FANTASIES REEEEEEEEE
Was Kazu actually stimulating his nipples btw? I have never seen that before huh.
And he was thinking of Mizuhara huh, I wonder why the rest of the girls will show up at this point, the main ship is being confirmed again and again...

Turning back a bit to the start...
How the fuck did he manage to save someone and then almost die? Is that physically possible? Idk.
I'm asking to many question for a plot point made simply to make the character kiss by the author. Fucking retarded.

"had to spend the night at a nearby hospital" Umh.. why? They would 100% let you go... but whatever.

yeah yeah shared hotel room same old same old...

Also, fucking #KillTheGrandma keep your disgusting hands to yourself where the fuck are you touching a young girl ya cunt?
Kinda boring episode to me idk.. sure Mizuhara in a yukata was sexy sure but I was bored.
Actually now that I think about it, it's probably because of the absence of Mami...

I don't even have care that much to complain more today, like how stupid the trope "haha I punched you" from the friend guy is or how cringe was the grandma calling out the tropes of this kind of shows while at the same time doing one herself (putting them in the same room).

I hope the new girl spices up the show next week.

This is definitely my favorite series of the season, right now.

Re:Zero 2
is good, but a little confusing, at the moment. And SNAFU 3 is dedicating itself to giving me the ending I DO NOT WANT. (And SUPER HxEROS has been a little spotty, the last couple of weeks.) But this show? It's like they're sewing all my old comfort anime together into one convenient spot.

I forgive every single trope and cliche this series pulls, I know, and I won't argue that I'm clearly buying into things at an abnormally high rate. So the Hot Springs Room Conspiracy! just plain old made me happy.

I'm here for it. Pour it directly into my brain pan. (And Kazuya is 100% right: #YukataChizuru. Wowza.)

One of the things I'm a fan of, with this show, is how it doesn't shy away from sexual crudeness but also doesn't cross that line into crassness--especially since it uses these instances almost exclusively to emphasize Kazuya's pathos and depression. And this week's was especially well done, with the switch back and forth between fangtasy-Mami and real memories of Chizuru. Not only was it realistic in just about every sense (from using images of Mami from the beach trip to how his newly blossomed crush on Chizuru kept interrupting his fantasy), but it also highlighted the difference between the two girls in Kazuya's perceptions, once again reinforcing their thematic roles in the story: Mami is sex on a stick, the imaginary avatar of his deleterious lust; and Chizuru is wholesome, the focus of an emotional yearning. It's not an ingenious thematic dichotomy, I admit, but it is certainly well done.

If there was one thing I would criticize, it was how long it took for us to get there. I didn't have much in the way of a problem with the save-her-from-drowning plot point, but I'd have rathered we spent more time with Chizuru and Kazuya in the hotel room--and not just because #YukataChizuru. This is a moment that matters, with Chizuru finally being herself because of A) the futility of struggling to keep away from Kazuya, and B) the safety of being alone and away from witnesses. (I mean...that glare she gives him at the end says it all, doesn't it?)

Doesn't look like we're going to spend too much more time at the hot springs, though, which is a shame--BUT...we get Girl #3. Which I'm very, very excited to see. (Wild theory: because the next episode seems to be called "Girlfriend and Girlfriend"--what if the new girl is Chizuru's ex-girlfriend?!)
"Wouldn't it make more sense if she was just another rental gir--"

"Shhhhh. #YuriChizuru."

"...but--"

"Shhhh..."

Was Kazu actually stimulating his nipples btw? I have never seen that before huh.
Dude, I was thinking the exact same thing!

And I'm glad I wasn't the first one to point it out! ("Did you guys see that? What was that about, right? Oh, that's what everyone else...uh, me too, I just, um, wanted to make sure you thought it was, too.")

In all seriousness, though, that was such a specific detail to add. I mean, I guess he could just as easily have been lifting his shirt to cool down a bit, but...well, however slight the possibility, it's still a detail that didn't need to be there. Just interesting to note that it was there.

Yup--I love this show. Love it. Looking forward to buying the BluRay.

"Girlfriend and Girlfriend"--what if the new girl is Chizuru's ex-girlfriend?!
IT WOULD REDEEM THE WHOLE SHOW

I was actually a bit worried about commenting on that as I definitely didn't want to make it sound like it was anything bad in the slightest , it was just a weird detail to put in as you said.

P.s. let me know if the Blu-Ray has some good Mami extra shots~

Episode 5

Funnily enough, I have this show dropped from the 2nd episode, but I keep on adding new episodes. It's kinda fun to discuss it and I am lazy to put it back in "Watching".

Ok, did Kazuya shout Chizuru's name under water? Damn, gotta learn that. Not only, they had the time to hug each other being really deep. Also, as Nekus said, saving someone from drowning to dry land and then turn yourself into the drowned one, that is some anti-Houdini trick.

Man, f*ck Mami. If she cared about Kazuya a bit, she wouldn't close that window like that. And still he faps to her..

I didn't find the masturbation scene too appealing. Uhm, I mean, sure, it gave some context, but it was disturbingly long.

Why is he so mad about seeing Chizuru's feet or her ass in a yukata? I mean, an episode before he had the luck to see much more of her than that. Also, I know inflation is mainly an economic term, but I feel Chizuru is undergoing some inflation there. But I don't mind, I don't mind ^^.

Do grandmas normally do to their granddaughter-in-law this kinda washing check? It's nice that she cares about Chizuru being clean, but..uhm..I don't even know if the reason of her remembering some younger days is a valid excuse. Uh..uhm..let's move on..

So next time we are meeting our unknown cutie. I have a hunch on that purse/bag of hers - cause of that she seems to me as another rental girlfriend. But on the opposite side, she will be more into Kazuya than Chizuru is..?

Lots to say what's weirdly already been said

Episode 5
I didn't find the masturbation scene too appealing. Uhm, I mean, sure, it gave some context, but it was disturbingly long.
I gotta get this out the way first - THIS COMMENT!!!! Seriously, okay i get it, it's wants to separate it's self as a series without just boobs but actual sex like references, but this was weirdly and disturbingly long, when it was done i was thinking to myself "did i just watch some soft-core porn of a dude jacking it whilst picturing his ex (fun fact, he couldn't hardly get scenes of Mizu being actually nice, just lie Mizu). But yeah, it gives context but it felt awkward after a bit... and rather dragged out.

Again - Second this post. I literally was like "did he call her name out underwater?" At first i figured it was in his head but apparently not. Gotta learn that skill myself, might come handy one day. Again i second, they die after hitting land? I get it, he could of blacked out after getting to land, the time without air on top of the mental stress and physical stress his mind/body just been through would make this possible... but he wouldn't of needed mouth-to-mouth cpr, he would either wake up after some prods or he wouldn't wake up for some hours, not because her lips touched him.

Man, f*ck Mami. If she cared about Kazuya a bit, she wouldn't close that window like that. And still he faps to her..
yeah, i liked Mami, she is the one thing i watch this for (except as you mentioned later, it's kind of fun to discuss), but really, closing the window, it felt like she resented he chose saving someone's life over meeting her? Pretty bad that.
Gotta love how Friend A and Mizuhara both looked into him saving her, "you don't risk your life for someone if it isn't love" (or whatever he said)... really? i mean... really? I mean, you (friend A) would let someone die because your not dating them? wow... just wow. Look i get what he was saying, it's heroic and you most certainly would risk your life to save someone you love over someone you don't but it's a bold statement to imply you wouldn't save anyone if it risked yourself, a lot of selfless heroes wouldn't be happy here.

NO NO NO WHAT THE FUCK SIMP YOU ARE NOT ALLOW TO TOUCH MAMI EVEN IN YOUR FUCKING FANTASIES REEEEEEEEE
Thank you, a cultured person you are i see!

And he was thinking of Mizuhara huh, I wonder why the rest of the girls will show up at this point, the main ship is being confirmed again and again...
I keep thinking this. Surely it would make sense to meet the girls and then move Kazu and Mizu together? The show has already sailed their ship and it's 2 girls missing? Doesn't add much to the competition...
Actually i retract my earlier comment about shy girl not being needed, she can kill MC, i would like this, she is also... cute... i focused on her for the ED and she is cute... very cute.

I'm asking to many question for a plot point made simply to make the character kiss by the author. Fucking retarded.
Yup, i mentioned this above but i did miss this, it really was just a plot device to let them share a kiss, just so they can kiss... wow... surely the guy falling onto her would feel more normal (no this isn't a suggestion, i hate this so much xD).

Also, fucking #KillTheGrandma keep your disgusting hands to yourself where the fuck are you touching a young girl ya cunt?
haha, for sure!!! Why do people in anime (old ones) have to molest young girls, i would report the hag to the police for sexual harrasment and abuse, that should be a good enough "break-up story for them).
#KillTheGrandma
We are back to it, #KillTheGrandma - literally she is so annoying "oh btw, my husband died today" really? Like she knows she was gonna say something so she adds that, anything to stop this lie, eh? Also, are these old people weirdly horny? Sorry but never met a person whose grand parents ask them about their sex life, literally spelling it out - just weird man. The shared room was also boring, Kazu could of took this point to maybe, oh i dunno, not been a creep and acted normal, had a real conversation with Mizuhara, got to know the real her, maybe scored some bonus points by being a normal person... not some weird sex pest.

nd I won't argue that I'm clearly buying into things at an abnormally high rate
I prefer that! Honestly is the policy, better to enjoy what you enjoy. I don't care when i buy into every trope and cliche in the book (in other series cases), as long as it's enjoyable, who cares? :D
it was how long it took for us to get there. I didn't have much in the way of a problem with the save-her-from-drowning plot point, but I'd have rathered we spent more time with Chizuru and Kazuya in the hotel room--and not just because #YukataChizuru. This is true, i don't like Mizuhara but i do agree we spent ages to get to the hotel to only spend 5 mins there and episode done, would of been nice to actually see them act normal (see above) together and be... normal? Watch tv, play table tenis, chat about random stuff, heck, laugh of their "near death" event from earlier, just a bit of time chilling together i guess...

"Shhhhh. #YuriChizuru."
I like where this is going...

Oh, that's what everyone else...uh, me too, I just, um, wanted to make sure you thought it was, too.")
uh... i errr totally... err simulate my nipple... all the time.
Man that took some effort to post...

Kinda boring episode to me idk.. sure Mizuhara in a yukata was sexy sure but I was bored.
Actually now that I think about it, it's probably because of the absence of Mami...

This... I found the episode rather boring, maybe it's because Mami wasn' here as you say, but i dunno, it didn't sit well with me. Maybe because how everything is forcing Mizuhara down my throat despite not seeing anything in her... maybe watching some guy imagine his ex/new girl(s) as he faps for a few mins was a bit awkward... it just felt dull this week, especially compared to last weeks.

Hopefully new girl makes a good entry and shows promise...

This is definitely my favorite series of the season, right now.

Re:Zero 2

Not the topic to say this but you are right on that (except favourite... defo not my fav xD)

IT WOULD REDEEM THE WHOLE SHOW
It's not going to happen, I'm sure, but...but if it did, it would mean the story would focus on Chizuru, for a bit, and not on Kazuya. Which is an inelegant way of saying that putting her in an emotionally vulnerable place, where she needs to confront an issue from her past, allows Kazuya to be the one who takes a support role toward her, balancing things out a little bit.

I could phrase that better, I know, but...I'm tired. You know what I mean.

Also, girl-girl. Which is yay.

Also also--it's not going to happen. But IF IT DID...

I was actually a bit worried about commenting on that as I definitely didn't want to make it sound like it was anything bad in the slightest , it was just a weird detail to put in as you said.
Exactly. I'm not objecting to it, I'm not questioning that people do it (heck, we're not even sure what he's doing)--it just seems really, really, surprisingly specific. Like, that was a deliberate decision someone made. And...I don't know why they did it.

Why is he so mad about seeing Chizuru's feet or her ass in a yukata?
For the same reason we all voted for casual-nerd Chizuru over dolled-up Chizuru.

Or, if you want to go a little deeper (and, for the moment, ignore the Japanese-specific flair to seeing someone in traditional garb), it's not just how she looks in the yukata (though, again, wowza), it's how she's behaving. I know his comment comes before she starts to relax and let her guard down, but she's still being genuine, still being herself, and he's just realized that he's in love with her. Like, not her act, but her. He'd have been gaga over her in baggy sweats, because it's Chizuru, and just the idea of her is going to set him off, this early into his longing for her.

Also...did you see her in that yukata?

Ok, did Kazuya shout Chizuru's name under water?
I took absolutely none of the underwater stuff literally. (Except him being able to grab her.) I assumed it was artistic license. That there wasn't a hug, that he didn't call out her name and she didn't hear him call her name...but that his heart called out and hers heard him. (Or maybe it's just rose-colored hindsight.)

At the same time, I don't think they did the greatest job using context to make it clear that it wasn't literal.

I mean...it can't have been literal. Right?

I found the episode rather boring
Everyone saying this made me realize one of the things I like about this show is how it looks you right in the face and says, "Are you ready for this classic cliche?" And they pretty much keep picking all my favorites. I can't help but love that.
Of course, my absolute favorite cliche is "b-b-but we're both giiiiiiiirrrls," which WE MIGHT GET NEXT WEEK SHUT UP IT COULD HAPPEN.

closing the window, it felt like she resented he chose saving someone's life over meeting her? Pretty bad that.
In her defense (...sort of), he lied to her. He said he was out for a walk or whatever, not on a romantic cruise with Chizuru. If she was actually trying to get with Kazuya, she should be super-pissed at him.

Also, she doesn't actually like him, does she? Wasn't she mostly just being vindictive?

I mean, you (friend A) would let someone die because your not dating them?
Well, as you say, that's not exactly what he meant. But it's certainly true of Kazuya, no?

I don't mean to say he wouldn't want to save someone who needed help, but I also think leaping overboard wasn't just risky, it was legitimately dangerous. (The coast guard or whoever yells at them, when they find them.) Kazuya acted without any regard for himself, which is just not who he is.

But for someone he truly cared about? Not just was dating, but basically loved? That's who you don't even think twice about throwing yourself to the lions to save.

Or, well, lion fish, in this case. I guess.
Oh--f*** me, lionfish are a real thing!
