Obscura Yoi Anime Challenge 2022

@Mitsu177 hope you and your family had fun. :)

Claiming for tier 4

19) Silent Night - 5 as of this post - Christmas
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/silent-night
Started and finished on 7/2.
Took some digging to find this puppy. I meant to claim this months earlier, but what with catching Covid in July, and not recovering until mid-late August, I just didn't have a lot of energy to do much, let alone post claims. (Then when I finally did have energy, I mostly just played games.) Anyway, the plot is basically a guy (whose a robber) trying to steal Christmas presents, but eventually Santa tries to stop him.

20) Someone Else's BL Cartoon - 534 as of this post - Bullying
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/someone-elses-bl-cartoon
Started on 7/8, and finished on 7/10.
I...don't have a lot to say about this one...Wasn't invested much in the plot, and one of the MC's was, let's just say, rather much for me. It's not the worst BL I've seen, but it would've helped if the "relationship" was healthy.

21) Spriggan 2022 - 813 as of this post - Explicit Violence
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/spriggan-2022
Started on 6/25, and finished on 6/26.
By the time I was originally going to claim this, I caught Covid, so... ._. Anyway, I tried to like it, but I found the plot boring, the violence too explicit even for me, didn't care for any of the characters, yadda yadda. At least it was only what, 6 episodes? I haven't watched the original Spriggan, but I don't think my opinion would change regardless. I guess if someone likes it, more power to them, but I just didn't personally care for it.

22) Stand by Me Doraemon - 2320 as of this post - CG animation
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/stand-by-me-doraemon
Started and finished on 9/26.
I watched this since it was on Netflix, and I wanted to get into Doraemon. I think I would've liked it more if I were a kid. Not saying it's a bad film, but it's too hard for me to articulate why else I wasn't particularly into this one. I'll still watch the second movie though, when I get the chance and am in the right mood.

23) Tosca - 28 as of this post - Based on a song
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/tosca
Started on 7/11, and finished on 7/12.
Honestly, I don't remember anything about it. I should give it a rewatch in the future. Wondering what song this is based on.

24) Ulysses: Jeanne D'arc and the alchemist knight - 2305 as of this post - 15th century
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/ulysses-jeanne-darc-and-the-alchemist-knight
Started on 8/25, and finished on 8/28(?)
While I'm not into Harem anime AT all, I thought the artwork and 15th century premise looked interesting. Sadly, I ended up not paying a lot of attention to the story/getting distracted a lot, and wasn't invested in a lot of the characters. A shame, because I actually did think it had potential to be better.

Just something to announce/ask:
It seems that Nights With a Cat will be continuing to release episodes on Youtube, and as such was marked as ongoing again in the db here too.
This naturally affects the claims involving this anime (both me and iirc @OkamiHime95 have claimed this, maybe others too, but not sure), and probably means that any claims involving this anime might now be invalid (@Mitsu177 please do confirm if that will indeed be the case).
Personally, I'll be moving it to my dropped list myself, as I got the gist of it with the initial batch of episodes, so feel free to remove 3 points from my current total (since it was in Tier 3 in my own claims).
Perhaps everyone else who also claimed it could at least temporarily have the relevant points deducted, and have them readded when the show finishes for real as long as they keep watching it till the end, but that's your decision to make.
Thanks in advance.

Ah, dang it... I hope points won't be taken away from me because I can't recall anymore when I originally first started watching it, and when I finished it. (Other than it was this year. I also don't remember what Tier I claimed it in, other than it was 3 or 4.) I don't want to have to watch it all the way from the beginning again! :( Ugh. Guess if I absolutely HAVE to, I will. The episodes are short, and I did like it, but man... Imo, I don't think anyone's points should get taken, because no one knew there would be a new episode. It just happened right out of the blue.

In saying all that, it is indeed @Mitsu177's call as to what to do here. If they say points get temporarily taken until Nights with a cat finishes properly, so be it, but if not, ok.
(Btw, I'm sorry that I sound angry. I am, but not at anyone here. Just upset and worried over the situation.)

No screens, must've been a real nice vacation. I think the closest I've come to "abandoning all screens" lately was when I went to A-Kon. The only screens I looked at were the ones in the panel rooms, and my phone only to check the schedule. I don't think I did anything on the internet at all the whole time.

Looks like I got a lot of work to do to catch up to Okami again! I think I have enough pre-planned to get close at least.. I was only planning to watch a couple of things this weekend but maybe I should do more, hmm..

Sorry for making you worry. For what's worth though, since you did claim it earlier, the post where you did the claiming does record the day when you started it as well as the tier you claimed it for so no need to worry about that part (that's one good thing about the written word, it helps in remembering things). Specifically, my idea of how any deduction could go like was if the person intends to continue the anime, just kinda "freeze" the claim, that is temporarily deduct the points, and the affected person continues from where they left off and eventually finishes the anime when it ends airing, and after that they re-claim it, being able to use the exact same writeup and tag they did last time (because it's not like much will change in your impressions just because it now has more episodes) but with the new finishing date, upon which the previously temporarily deducted points will be readded. But we'll see what Mitsu decides about this.

This has been on my backlog for a long, long, long time. It’s basically a story of a man who decides to go to space as his country’s first astronaut, and everything that happens around that one goal along the way, from his personal training to international incidents. It is kind of a slow burn (hehe, get it, burn, space...) but once it gets going, it picks up pace quickly, rushing toward a tense climax. Recommended.

The last of the “been in my backlog for years” things that I had planned on watching when I started this challenge and made my initial list of things to watch. This one turned out pretty good. It’s actually a more complex and multi-faceted story than the description makes it out to be, touching on themes of religious tyranny and oppression, the hell of war, environmentalism, hope, and apathy. All it needs is a robot with a V-shaped antenna on its head and it could be called a Gundam anime, come to think of it.

Now, I can't say my backlog is truly cleared, but I've made a sizable dent in it thanks to this challenge.

A cute Chinese animation a friend recommended to me. A vegetarian dragon is mistaken for an evil servant of the demon lord, and a child is sent to him as a sacrifice. He doesn’t want to eat the child, so he convinces her he ate her soul instead. Now she insists on being his disciple. As he travels around with her, it turns out she also has enormous magical and fighting skill, which she thinks come from the dragon, and everyone else thinks her deeds are those of the dragon himself. What’s a veg dragon to do? Recommended!

Next, I plan to find some more 80s stuff to watch. 'cus you know, I like 80s stuff.

Well, speaking of 80s stuff, I realized I actually hadn't seen ALL of the Urusei Yatsura movies, so I took some time to fix that. I might regret burning a couple of these tags on this stuff, but oh well. The new reboot of Urusei Yatsura is only 2 episodes in, btw, but it just doesn't feel quite right... aside from movie 4 I enjoyed these movies more than the new series so far.

Urusei Yatsura Movie 4: Lum the Forever - https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/urusei-yatsura-movie-4-lum-the-forever

Very surreal and strange, kind of like Beautiful Dreamer. Unlike Beautiful Dreamer, not as good, and does not have Mamoru Oshii as director. I found it difficult to follow and not very entertaining, in either a comedic or intellectual way. Not recommended.

Urusei Yatsura Movie 5: The Final Chapter - https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/urusei-yatsura-movie-5-the-final-chapter

This one is more typical of UY as a series. Ataru and Lum’s stubbornness is cranked up to 11 in the mis-named Final Chapter when an unwanted fiancee of Lum shows up to claim her (shades of Ranma throughout). With signature Rumic absurdism, the stakes are raised higher and higher, until finally the fate of the world rests on Ataru’s shoulders in a game of tag..just like how the series began!

Urusei Yatsura Movie 6: Always My Darling - https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/urusei-yatsura-movie-6-always-my-darling

The actual final Urusei Yatsura movie of the original run involves… a tired old love potion story. Heck, I’m sure the original series itself did this at least once if not twice over its 195 episode run. Even so, it’s typically Rumic and entertaining, although Ataru, who at least had some development over the original series, is reduced to a single-trait flat character here. Somewhat better than movie 5 but in other ways also worse because the love potion story is just that overdone.

Claiming for Tier 4

25) Akudama Drive - 8174 as of this post - Suicide

https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/akudama-drive
Started on 10/22, and finished on 10/24.
I watched this because I kept hearing the OP in several "Guess the anime song" quiz videos on Youtube, and I got curious. I liked it during the first few episodes, but after episode 9? No. Just no. Hardly any plot at all (if there even is one), and I wasn't into most of the characters. (Especially after episode 9.) A shame, cause I think it had a lot of potential.

26) Black Butler Picture Drama - 3080 as of this post - Picture Drama
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/black-butler-picture-drama
Started & finished on 10/6.
This was a pain in the hind-in to find, I tell ya what. ;>_> Anyway, this was really...something else lol...It was cool seeing the VA's, at least.

27) Bokutachi no Peace River - 24 as of this post - America
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/bokutachi-no-peace-river
Started on 10/22, and finished on 10/23.
I could only find this raw, and since my knowledge in Japanese is limited, I have no clue what the plot is even about other than some kids and an old guy lmao. Was an alright OVA, regardless. Not much else to say about it.

28) Burn the Witch - 6326 as of this post - Witches
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/burn-the-witch
Started and finished on 10/1.
I watched this since this is supposedly a "spin-off" of Bleach, but really, other than the artwork, I don't see why. (Guess I'd have to read the manga?) The story/concept was interesting, and it really kept me engaged. The dragons were neat.

29) Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time - 308 as of this post - Police
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/detective-conan-zeros-tea-time
Started and finished on 10/1.
My first entry into Detective Conan. This was a neat, short series. Would recommend to people who want to get into Detective Conan, but don't know where to start.

30) Fairies Albums 2nd Season - 81 as of this post - Animal Abuse
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/fairies-albums-2nd-season
Started on 10/1, and finished on 10/2.
I watched this hoping it was better than the 1st season. It was in certain ways, but still, this series is not a huge favorite of mine. (Not saying it's bad, but I need to be in a certain mood/mindframe to watch Chinese anime, I guess.) I'll still watch season 3, if possible.

31) ID:Invaded - 7184 as of this post - Psychopaths
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/id-invaded
Started on 10/9, and finished on 10/13.
I watched this since it was another anime I discovered via "Guess the anime song" videos lol. I wanted to like this, but man, I found it hecking confusing, and just didn't get the plot. The music was great though, and I like a particular VA in this anime, but other than that, I doubt I'd watch this again.

I just checked everyones lists, it was only the two of you who've claimed this anime for your OCL (Obscure Challenge List) okahime claim 60 and nearetogamer claim 27.
It is true that in this challenge that only the anime that you've completed watching counts and so @NeaRetrogamer makes sense in this case.
So you guys can continue watching the anime from where it last finished and once it completes and you guys sent the proof, ill add up the points again.
The entries are there in your lists, I just put "onhold" in the points column so till then it'll be "frozen". PLease do keep checking your lists once in a while!

The entries are there in your lists, I just put "onhold" in the points column so till then it'll be "frozen". PLease do keep checking your lists once in a while!
[...]
and again im sorry for approving so late and i wouldn't even know about the anime continuing until you guys brought it up.
The teachers sprung a surprise series of exams on us so I've been preoccupied.
So i hope you guys keep an eye on ur lists!
Thank you all, Hope you continue you time enjoying and doing well in watever you do!
happy watching :)
Thank you for answering about this matter. Putting those points on-hold until the show finishes airing and we claim it again indeed seems to me as the best solution as well. As I said earlier, personally I'm not planning to continue watching this anime as it airs, but, provided it finishes within this year, I might end up watching the remaining episodes in one go as a second portion of sorts, but will see what I'll end up doing after it finishes for good, so at least the on-hold points thing will give me the option to do so.

I have another question now though: I noticed in @OkamiHime95 's latest batch of claims that Akudama Drive and Fairies Albums 2nd season use 'tags' that are with smaller letters under the Content Warning area instead of regular tags (under the Tags area). So do those clickable sets of words that do operate as tags (since they lead to a /tags url page when clicked) also count as tags for this challenge? Because if so, then I guess I have been limiting myself by only choosing stuff in the main tags area instead of also expanding to the 'tags' of the content warning area.

At any rate, since I'm here, I'll also claim a seasonal I finished a little while ago (was originally planning to submit it along with something else I'd watch in the future, but I haven't gotten around to finishing any other anime so far, so I'll get this out of the way since I'm at it):

Dates watched: 31st of July - 16th of October
I started this as I had already watched and liked the live action show Kamen Rider W (I found out about said show in the first place from the announcement of this anime adaptation btw) and thus wanted to see this continuation too. This was much like the original show in terms of vibe and presentation, though there was a bit more ecchi at a few points (but nothing intolerable fortunately). As such it was pretty action-packed and entertaining, and the mysteries solved by the detective/superhero duo were also good, though obviously not in the same level as those of a mystery-dedicated show. Personally I would recommend watching the original live-action show first in order to be already acquainted with the characters and have some context for events that happened in that show and that are mentioned in certain points of this one, but it could still be watched by people with no experience with said show too since it does give some minimum explanations, and those past events don't otherwise have a huge bearing on the events of this anime.

And once again good luck on your studies! :-)

What happened to my other comment? I know I made one, and I posted it. How/why did it get deleted? :@_@: (It was basically about me trying to explain that since content warning tags are still tags, even if they have different lettering, they still have URL's like "regular" tags as NeaRetrogamer pointed out. Thus why I thought it was fine for me to claim those particular tags. Plus iirc, I've used content warning tags before and there was never an issue then.)

Anyway, on to some claims.

32) Kanta and the Deer - 27 as of this post - Forest
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/kanta-and-the-deer
Started and finished on 10/15.
A boy named Kanta rescues an orphaned fawn with a golden tail, and names it Poyu. Kanta vows to protect Poyu and the other deer from hunters. I watched this since it was short-ish, and it looked cute and interesting to me.

33) Lupin III: The Fuma Conspiracy - 2144 as of this post - Criminals
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/lupin-the-3rd-the-fuma-conspiracy
Started on 10/19, and finished on 10/20.
Ah yes, another Lupin film that I was hoping to get into. I thought it'd be hard to find, but to my surprise, it wasn't. Anyway, the movie kept me pretty engaged I guess, and the plot was interesting overall. The music was great.

34) Made in Abyss Part 1: Journey's Dawn - 3010 as of this post - Curse
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/made-in-abyss-tabidachi-no-yoake
Started and finished on 10/6.
This film is basically a recap/condensed version of the first 8 episodes of season 1. If you don't have the time to watch season 1, but yet want to get into Made in Abyss in just a few hours, then I recommend you watch this as well as the second movie. (Which I'm also gonna claim.) The 3rd film I believe is a recap of season 2? Haven't watched it yet to confirm if it's true or not though.

35) Made in Abyss Part 2: Wandering Twilight - 3223 as of this post - Dark Fantasy
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/made-in-abyss-hourou-suru-tasogare
Started on 10/15, and finished on 10/16.
A recap/condensed version of the rest of season 1. Not much else for me to say that I haven't already said above. Again, watch this if you don't have enough time to watch the actual series, for whatever reason.

Megazone 23 is a series of OVAs and could be considered a forgotten classic. Watching the first of these, I have to say I'm kind of unimpressed. The art and music are good, sure, but the writing is mediocre at best. I couldn't help but think Shogo is a jackass, and practically every choice he makes is, well, wrong. Still, I'll give part 2 a shot.

Given that it's an 80s OVA, this has gotta be one of the earliest appearances of a virtual idol. Hence the Idols tag.

Ok I expect sight-gags in Rumiko Takahashi movies (they're everywhere!) but did not expect to see a full-on Thundercats/SilverHawks pinball table within the first minute. This part was better, I guess. Definitely a different kind of movie, more dumb actiony than trying to be deep. Also, much more gorey and yes, more explicit sex. Now that I'm half way through, I might as well watch part 3 which is split into two parts.

Part 3 is once again quite different from the previous parts, taking place on Earth and with an entirely new set of characters. The Cyberpunk tag I chose for it is fitting, since this is kind of a hacker story. The second episode finally sort of ties it all together. Overall I guess the Megazone 23 franchise is decent, but not really spectacular.

I watched this cause I needed something from the 70's or 80's for bingo. It reminded me of a mixture between Vampire Hunter D, and Vinland Saga for some reason. Speaking of which, there is a character that literally looks like D lol. Has the same outfit and everything. XD Anyway, as for the movie itself, it was alright.

37) How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom Part II - 6723 as of this post - Kingdom building
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/how-a-realist-hero-rebuilt-the-kingdom-part-ii
Started on 10/29, and finished on 10/30.
Well, where do I even start? I'll say that I liked the first season more. Not sure how to explain why, other than there was less pervy moments, and the characters were more likeable to me.

38) Monster of Frankenstein - 241 as of this post - Marvel Comics
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/monster-of-frankenstein
Started & finished on 10/29.
"Hime, why are you claiming this for Marvel Comics?" You might wonder, and the fact is, apparently it IS based on a Marvel Comic. (Shocking, I know. At least to someone like me who rarely reads comic books.) Anyway, out of all the Frankenstein stuff I've seen over the years (which is very few, considering I am weird with horror), this was actually alright for what it was. Hecking depressing though, if you actually watched this.

So this apparently is like the "entry" to season 2, if that makes sense. Man, a lot of scenes were like gut-punches. T_T Don't know if I'll watch season 2, but we'll see...

40) Nae Ireumeun Dokgotak - 17 as of this post - Baseball

Thank you for approving my claim and for the clarifications.

Personally I think that if Nights With a Cat doesn't end within this year, adding a complimentary point would indeed be a good idea, since we did submit a writeup and all. But we'll see how it goes I guess.

Good to hear that the warning tags count too; I won't be submitting many more claims this year (basically mainly the fall seasonals I'm watching rn, plus perhaps a few more things), but that'll be good to keep in mind when I'm submitting them - it should certainly make it easier for me to pick tags.

In regards to a list of releases of this year, filtering the releases of this year ('from 2022 to 2022' the way the year picker works) and sorting based on "Most Watched" seems to do the trick (and already from the 2nd half of the first row there's stuff with less than 10,000 views).

Personally, I myself enjoy this challenge and would like for it to continue next year too, as it's a really interesting challenge which encourages checking out some less watched stuff, some of which might in fact be hidden gems too.

In regards to rules, I'd say that they can be kept the same just fine, though it would imo be a good idea to write out more clearly exactly how the points allocation of the tiers system works (like in the way you explained them to me in this post), as well as also clarify that warning tags are also accepted, in short address things people (like yours truly) are likely to be confused about.

Nice to hear you're enjoying managing this challenge too; I admit I was a bit worried that your real-life reponsibilities would perhaps make you see it as a "chore", so good thing this isn't the case.
So thanks again for managing this challenge and approving claims, and here's hoping you'll be able to continue the challenge next year too.

I agree, while I hope Nights with a Cat ends this year, if it does not, a complimentary point to those who've watched & submitted it would be nice.

In regards to the rules, I'm absolutely fine with them.

Since I quit bingo (LONG story that I'd rather not get into), I'll be posting here more frequently, or at least I'll try to.

I'd love to be able to play again next year, and hope that @Mitsu177 can keep running it. :)

Very glad they've been enjoying it as well. ^_^

Thank you to @Mitsu177 for running this awesome game. Personally, this game has been a great stress reliever for me.

I watched this since I used to be somewhat interested in the games as a kid, but never got the chance to play them. Well, let's just say that I spent the majority not actually paying attention to it. Sadly I found it actually quite boring. (Not saying it's bad. Just not my cup of tea, I guess...)

This was recommended to me a long time ago, and I noticed it was on Hulu, so I figured I'd watch it, given it's been on my wtw list for a long time. Anyway, without saying huge spoilers, I would've ended up loving it if it weren't for 2 characters in particular... They really brought my score down to what it would've been without them. (Or at least if they had different personalities.)

44) Shinshuu Sudama hen - 12 as of this post - Feudal Japan

I watched it since the artwork cover looked interesting. I could only find this 4 episode OVA raw, so if it weren't for the synopsis on A-P, I'd have been even more lost than I already was. :@_@: Despite no subs, I can't say the OVA was bad, but I certainly didn't love it either. Not sure what to rate it, actually. I guess I'd rewatch it if someone on Youtube was gracious enough to provide English subtitles for it, and give it another chance.

I watched this since it was apparently made by the same people as Den-Noh Coil, and it was on Netflix. I was hoping to enjoy it as much as Den-Noh Coil, but as the story went on, it just got "meh" to me. At least there were only 6 episodes. I admit though, I thought it had potential, but I thought it could've been better.

Back when I was playing bingo, I rewatched this to fit an OVA square that I had. It's kind of a cute, short OVA you can easily find, if you're looking for something short-ish to watch. The plot is simple, but like I said, if you wanna watch something short, I'd recommend it.

Hmm, the content warnings are fair game, you say? Well, I might have to do some browsing. Or maybe use one for the series I'm working on, for which I haven't picked a tag yet--they're mostly big tags I might want to save for something which has very few tags on it. :)

One I had forgotten from the past. I think I started watching it at one point and stopped for some reason (I kept thinking "I've seen this scene before!") Watched the whole thing now and it's pretty good.

I didn't really read the synopsis but given the pandemic tag I was expecting something entirely different than what I got. Still pretty good. You may want to do some research on the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty in advance of watching this. Just sayin'.

It's a sports anime, with a corporate conspiracy twist. Short and sweet. Not really much I can say about it. The animation gets a little weird at a certain point but I think it might have been deliberate considering what was happening.

41) Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva - 2750 as of this post - High-Stakes game
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/professor-layton-and-the-eternal-diva
Started on 10/30, and finished on 10/31.
I watched this since I used to be somewhat interested in the games as a kid, but never got the chance to play them. Well, let's just say that I spent the majority not actually paying attention to it. Sadly I found it actually quite boring. (Not saying it's bad. Just not my cup of tea, I guess...)

42) Rainbow Days - 7423 as of this post - Romantic Comedy
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/rainbow-days
Started on 11/3, and finished on 11/4.

43) Rainy Cocoa: Side G!! - 382 as of this post - Cafe
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/rainy-cocoa-side-g
Started and finished on 10/7.
I decided to watch it since I watched and liked several of the other anime in the franchise. I was curious why it had such low ratings, and well, I learned why... Huge disappointment, imo.

44) Shinshuu Sudama hen - 12 as of this post - Feudal Japan
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/shinshuu-sudama-hen
I watched it since the artwork cover looked interesting. I could only find this 4 episode OVA raw, so if it weren't for the synopsis on A-P, I'd have been even more lost than I already was. :@_@: Despite no subs, I can't say the OVA was bad, but I certainly didn't love it either. Not sure what to rate it, actually. I guess I'd rewatch it if someone on Youtube was gracious enough to provide English subtitles for it, and give it another chance.

45) The Case Study of Vanitas - 8433 as of this post - 19th Century
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/the-case-study-of-vanitas
Started on 10/15, and finished on 10/19.
I watched this since it was on Hulu, and I like vampires. Sadly, another one that didn't end up being a favorite of mine, but I really enjoyed the music, and some of the funny parts of the show. Oh, and the voice acting.

46) The Case Study of Vanitas: Part II - 4090 as of this post - France
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/the-case-study-of-vanitas-part-ii
Started on 10/19, and finished on 10/22.
Watched this for the same reasons as season 1. I was hoping this season would be better, but sadly it just didn't do it for me. Not sure I'd watch another season...

47) The Orbital Children - 1413 as of this post - Survival
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/the-orbital-children
Started on 10/6, and finished on 10/7.

48) The Princess of the Desert Kingdom - 31 as of this post - Desert
https://www.anime-planet.com/anime/the-princess-of-the-desert-kingdom
Started and finished on 10/15.

This was suggested to me several years ago, and I even put it in my CrunchyRoll queue at the time...but eventually I forgot about it. Now I finally watched it, and it was worth it. Definitely better than Megazone 23. This deserves more views. Especially in today's political climate.

Found browsing tags. Turned out pretty decent, even if it's a fairly standard story. It's relatively short so there's not really much to say about it. Oh, be advised, it starts out with a sex scene that... soon turns into some body horror stuff.

Found while browsing tags, decided it might well be a candidate for a "so bad it's good" kind of thing. It didn't quite reach that level, but it was cheesy. Decent B-movie stuff, if you're into that sort of thing.

I was real tempted to rewatch Arpeggio of Blue Steel or even Blue Sub 6 for the Submarine tag, but decided against doing any rewatches. No relation to the video game of the same name, aside from involving submarines, that is. Basically imagine Hunt for Red October, but everyone is stupid. I will give the story credit for building tension, but yeah everyone is stupid. (Maybe I should've done a rewatch after all)

I am really happy to hear (read) this :)
I will be holding a vote at the end of this year's challenge in regards to continuing it into next year too, and honestly I would love to host it again,
though i may not be able to be online for the first few months due to my college finals which is in March.
We shall come back to this topic on New year's Eve :)

I agree, while I hope Nights with a Cat ends this year, if it does not, a complimentary point to those who've watched & submitted it would be nice.

Hmm, the content warnings are fair game, you say? Well, I might have to do some browsing. Or maybe use one for the series I'm working on, for which I haven't picked a tag yet--they're mostly big tags I might want to save for something which has very few tags on it. :)

Yes, sorry for not having clarified it before but I will sure to do so next time :)
And that complementary point, I think its best to do it since I got you guys opinion on it.

HAPPY WATCHING!!

Been kind of curious about this one for a long time. It’s not bad, but there’s not much to it either. It has a sequel, which I think I’ll watch.

Discovered while exploring tags and seemed like it might be decent, but it was pretty silly and dumb. Worth a few laughs at least, mostly at the show, not with it! Bonus: all the bad guys were depicted as stereotypes, even the Japanese ones.

Part 2 of the Netflix remake of Bastard!! More action, less ecchi (relatively speaking). It ended with a To Be Continued but I’m not sure I will bother. It should have wrapped up here, the formula’s getting pretty tired.

Mainly 'cus I like Range Murata. This is a recap movie of Last Exile sequel series Fam the Silver Wing. It suffers from the amount of cutting and compressing they had to do though.

Sequel to Goku: Midnight Eye. Set an unknown amount of time after the first one and a completely separate story. There’s actually no need to watch the first one to understand this episode, since pretty much the only things carried over are part of Goku himself, and they explain about his eye (in fact, he does more with it, in this episode). This mini series could’ve done with a lot more creativity. There are a lot of things they could’ve done with that eye as a centerpiece. Instead they made a couple of run of the mill detective noir stories. Oh well.

Rediscovered while browsing. I actually thought I had already watched it but nope. Never had. Pretty decent movie actually. The premise is one that's been done a lot, but it works.
