Laid-Back Camp 2nd Season

6

Yurucamp: survival horror edition
it's a race against chiaki's lack of preparation as the girls try to not freeze to death in the harsh conditions of a cape during winter. Luckily some kind locals take them in and they don't die. Got a little dicey there, though.

I'm assuming they vent the wood furnace outside the tent? That's pretty neat. Kinda big to take camping though.

Can't wait for nadeshiko's solo camping adventure.

That's a little Re:Zero humor for the kids in the back.
Nobody understands me like you do

Episode 6 - damn this show is better than any pleasure you can name!
Eating sushi still surpasses it for me

As for hotpot, every time I see anime characters mention hotpot I'm always reminded of The Eccentric Family and what those poor tanukis had to go through in both seasons.
Watch out, the hot pot ingredients are loose!

I thought they were going to have hit the climax early with "Shimarin-sama," but of course they didn't. Of course they didn't.

I'll never learn.

Another great one. I mean, all that Sakura x Rin fanart I found, that one time, got me a little tense for what was going to happen once Rin ran into Sakura while out and about, but they didn't even bathe together, so it's fine. (Rin belongs to Nadeshiko, fanpervs!)

Seriously, though, I love Sakura, and seeing this new combo of Rin and her was just another feather in this series' cap. (And how long is Rin's hair! Wow. We've probably seen it a dozen time, before, but I only ever think of her with a bun or a knit hat, so it shocks me whenever I see her with her hair down like that.)

Speaking of Sakura, though: I totally thought she was tailing Nadeshiko. (Of course, I also thought Rin was tailing Nadeshiko. (Was no one going to tail Nadeshiko? Really?))

But I think my favorite moment--in a chockablock of fantastic moments--had to be Rin's little "I'm off this weekend, too" line after Nadeshiko left the library. Which I'm choosing to interpret as "But...I'm off, too, Nadeshiko..." instead of the pretty obvious "Actually, what should I do since I'm off this weekend"--and you can't make me stop!

Oh, also the Rin instructional section. Great. And...yeah, it was just great to have Rin and Nadeshiko back in the spotlight, again.

Despite my trepidations about having this solo camp story last more than a single episode, I'm psyched for next week.

And all the gas lantern porn, of course.

Episode 7:
And...yeah, it was just great to have Rin and Nadeshiko back in the spotlight, again.
All of my ^this^.

Look, the other three are fine, but Rin and Nadeshiko are the heart of this show and this show is at its best when they're at the center of things. And Sakura is just a gorgeous I mean interesting character and a great change of pace from the younger main cast. So yes, please more of this :o

Speaking of Sakura, though: I totally thought she was tailing Nadeshiko. (Of course, I also thought Rin was tailing Nadeshiko. (Was no one going to tail Nadeshiko? Really?))
I definitely thought Sakura was tailing Nadeshiko too, and that was 100% intentional. For whatever reason Rin tailing her never occurred to me though...

Episode 7 - more food porn makes me hungry, beware weak stomached people who are craving a snack!

I don't even care - if you tell me that you wasn't drooling with Nadeshiko, your a liar and a bad person! I thought she looked grossed out and i was like "wtf girl, that looks orgasmic" then she starts drooling and it shows her zoomed out (when the guy tells her it wont be long!) i honestly couldn't blame her, my drool wasn't contained. Seriously, i want that cooked exactly like that. The more this meal developed the more i wanted to eat it. I will stop talking about food, sorry i just loved it!

Ahem, Nadeshiko episode and it was amazing! We get the two into the spotlight (rin as well!) and i loved it. I love how cute Nadeshiko's simple life is, like she puts her first item on her list is to tell her family where she is going before deciding on the camp, still this shows how great she is, she don't skip a step and is always there with that smile. I love seeing her face on the train too, that grin could melt the coldest of hearts... i mean, i am here... need i say more?

Which I'm choosing to interpret as "But...I'm off, too, Nadeshiko..." instead of the pretty obvious "Actually, what should I do since I'm off this weekend"--and you can't make me stop!
+1 - i am totally 100% okay with this theory!

Despite my trepidations about having this solo camp story last more than a single episode, I'm psyched for next week.
Honestly, same here. can't wait now!

Speaking of Sakura, though: I totally thought she was tailing Nadeshiko. (Of course, I also thought Rin was tailing Nadeshiko. (Was no one going to tail Nadeshiko? Really?))
I thought this. I thought Rin would tail Nadeshiko to "check on her" and maybe realise how much she enjoys the company Nadeshiko brings to her life or something, same for Sakura except i thought she was watching over her... turns out nope.
I like to pretend they both was a bit lonely without Nadeshiko around though, not sure if that was what it was going for but they both seemed as such to me, i think they both maybe missed having her around despite they spend ton of days without seeing one another, at least this is how i wanna see it.

Look, the other three are fine, but Rin and Nadeshiko are the heart of this show and this show is at its best when they're at the center of things
For sure! I don't mind the others as i said other weeks but Nadeshiko and Rin are the heart for me and this episode funny enough shows it (for me), i was shocked to see the credits role as i didn't realise how fast it had past, i just loved it!

Episode 7:
Its pretty cool that the anime made a mention of Kino's Journey during the episode. And yeah, its good to see Rin influencing Nadeshiko to try new things like solo camping. Even if it sounds scary, I wouldn't mind trying it at some point.

Very late this week... T_T
This week's t̶e̶a̶ hot drink: coffee because I'm tired.
Which I'm choosing to interpret as "But...I'm off, too, Nadeshiko..." instead of the pretty obvious "Actually, what should I do since I'm off this weekend"--and you can't make me stop!
I support you on this 100%. No one can tell us otherwise.
if you tell me that you wasn't drooling with Nadeshiko, your a liar and a bad person!
I had eaten like 10 minutes before watching the ep and even I was like "hell yeah I wanna eat that NOW."
This show is so relaxing I legit think I was in a half meditative state during this episode, especially the scenes were they intentionally raise the ost volume. I wasn't watching the show I was experiencing it.

I am thinking of asking the production studio's and writers to consider submitting this show to science of a medical relaxation treatment for people suffering from anything like depression to diabetes, this show can cure it all (probably!).

The only problem it can't solve is if you eat too much.. although you could still get inspired to to take a walk or go camping! (which usually includes a bunch of walking)

EP 8
Ah, we were just an episode early with our suspicions of Rin and Sakura worrying about Nadeshiko and following her. It's so heartwarming that she has people in her life who care that much :o
I loved this, like i knew Rin couldn't stop herself but seeing them both there and keep meeting like this, Nadeshiko has some great friends/family. Though maybe that's because her charisma? She is able to befriend anyone and is about the most innocent kind-hearted girl around, of course people care for her, i care more about her camping trips than i do about half the people in my work place, and she isn't real!!!

Speaking of befriending - Nadeshiko never fails, she goes solo camping and without trying befriends the only people she even speaks to, makes the girls night and gets them hyped to prep their own meals, even got the girl on the laptop who called her a loner to smile. Nadeshiko is a virus, a positive one though, she spreads smiles everywhere she goes. Its one reason i love her characters and the episodes based around her, that smile she spreads isn't just hers, she makes everyone happy and in turn, me happy!

Food porn was toned down this week to softcore food porn, i have been spoiled with all that sexy smut this show normally throws at me that this one didn't get my stomach demanding some... though this could be because i just finished eating?

I will put my hand up and admit i didn't like the idea of Nadeshiko solo camping, i will also put my hand up and admit i now don't want to see her camp trip end, even in the end she made it amazing, seeing her lie on the bench looking at the city lights below, how, how does she make the simplest of things seem so fun and make me so envious?

Bonus to her singing - i love she just walks around all smiles singing about food, what a girl!

Also, i love how Rin and Sakura in the space of a day have become so close, seeing Sakura offer to buy Rin dinner so so sweet!

One of my most favourite episodes to date
Nadeshiko is the best character ever written in anime (or in the top 5 anyway), she makes me smile in every scene that i am willing to call her a goddess!

And the winner for most adorable made-up song that isn't about comparing your romance interest to a cockroach goes to...

So...yeah, this is the best show ever. And no one can say otherwise.

(Dat lantern action tho.)

I know! Absolutely rolled us with last week.

Man, this show can do just about anything, can't it.
I like the cleverness of having Rin and Sakura being fine with it so long as they were able to track Nadeshiko via her phone (whether by GPS or her stream of pictures), and it was only when they could not Big Brother her that they felt moved to actually track her down. It was a great way for the story to hit the beat we were all expecting in a way that we wouldn't expect.

I mean, yes, the moment Rin noticed she hadn't heard from Nadeshiko in a bit and then tied to call her, I sat up in my chair and said, "Do it...you're worried, now, right--so you're gonna do it, yeah?" But I had no idea this was going to be the impetus before then.

Also...I'm not gonna go all internet and demand that these two start making out (people can just be friends, guys!), but...this Rin/Sakura duo is something we need to see more of.

...that said, they really do click, in that way that two people who unexpectedly come together in a romance movie. I mean, two chance meetings in 12 hours? And then they went to look at the beautiful nighttime view together? And then they went out to dinner together???

I mean, I would hate it for the way it would screw with the Nadeshiko x Rin dynamic, but tell me this isn't one of the best starts to a dating relationship you've seen in an anime series.

softcore food porn

Yup, me too.

Or, well, I was worried that it wouldn't work out or that it would be too long, I guess, if we want to be really specific. But I was absolutely wrong to even consider doubting that this would be awesome. And I definitely got a little disappointed when the ED started up and I knew the ep was over.

...only then to give a little cheer when I saw that we'd be getting another ep with Nadeshiko's solo camp.

I-is this a True Tears reference? I could be wrong here (i am aware it's not the only cockroach love song) but did i love hearing Noe sing this! Now i wanna watch True tears again!!! I love that show... not its ending

Also...I'm not gonna go all internet and demand that these two start making out (people can just be friends, guys!), but...this Rin/Sakura duo is something we need to see more of.
I... thought you was gonna say Nadeshiko and Rin... damn! Though i don't couple any girls together here, i like Yurucamp isn't about romance, i love romance shows and a suckers for a love story but i think the friendships in this show far outweigh anything else and i am okay with this.
I practically want Nadeshiko and Rin joined at the hip half the time but in a friend way, it's pretty fine as it is.

Now i look like i was taking this seriously!

I mean, I would hate it for the way it would screw with the Nadeshiko x Rin dynamic, but tell me this isn't one of the best starts to a dating relationship you've seen in an anime series.
Your poisoning my mind!

This!
I was wrong to ever doubt that Yurucamp would let me down, now give us more seasons, the therapeutic entity that is Yurucamp can't end.
The ED starting triggered a sad feeling in me too yet i love its ED so much... and the end segment with the 360k yen deer thingy was totally worth the laugh!

I-is this a True Tears reference?
You know it!
I love that show... not its ending
Anything that isn't Noe, in that show, is a waste of time.

I'd like to compare/contrast her with Yui Yuigahama, in terms of...um, love triangles.

Your poisoning my mind!
All I'm saying is that, much like the surprise of Ena fitting in seamlessly with Aki and Inuko, and Nadeshiko being a great pair with Ena, Sakura and Rin are a duo you wouldn't think would be great together but are.

Also, they are absolutely hitting every romance movie beat in the books, at the moment, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Because this isn't that kind of show. And because Rin and Nadeshiko are soul mates. And because these girls will live forever in a world where there are no men and no need for romance because we're all nice, innocent, chillaxed, nonsexual friendship beings of good intent.

...except Rin and Sakura, who crackle with chemistry that needs to be left to the doujins.

Anything that isn't Noe, in that show, is a waste of time.[/QUOTE]
Exactly! Noe was a great character and honestly, True tears lies on the list of one of the earlier shows i watched and Noe being such a great character, she always stuck in my head... even her cockroach song! (especially her cockroach song!)

I can see how the comparison to Yui works but i don't like putting them together, i love Yui and all but Noe is in another league I'm afraid... I'm still more impressed to find anyone who even talks of this show, man when i first watched it, I wouldn't say it was "new" so trying to find people who loved it was rare, i just assumed it was another hidden gem!

onto camp related things.

Nadeshiko being a great pair with Ena
I think Nadeshiko is a great pair with anyone, she seems to be one of them people who just is hard to hate and everyone loves. Even Rin wasn't open arms at first to her and now look at her, driving out of her way to check everything is okay with her!

Sakura and Rin are a duo you wouldn't think would be great together but are.
Though i do understand your point here, actually i struggle to picture Sakura with anyone. Not in a bad way but because i always saw her as Nadeshiko's older sister, i just put her on the side of never considering her being involved with anyone aside Nadeshiko.
Which is something i like about the show, it can ignore the age barrier so many parts of life throw, she is old enough to be mature to see Rin is a good friend (very caring friend might i add) for Nadeshiko and she makes the effort to welcome her... and potentially befriend her! It feels more mature i guess seeing the barriers aren't there for her to see Rin is a good kid.

On the note, Rin really is a caring person, like sure we know she is great and all but she saved the trio the other week from there freezing trip after some quick thinking (or at least she sent their teacher to check on them after realising they probably haven't considered how cold it gets) and on Nadeshiko's trip, despite considering the phone is out of range, she still went out of her way to make sure Nadeshiko is okay, she might be a quiet one but she is a good person and a good friend.

If...if you ever write that fanfic drop me a link in the dms...
screw dm's, it would need a forum share... quite sure we all need to see that!

And because these girls will live forever in a world where there are no men
LIES.
This episode had a man in it! He was sitting around whilst his two rather young looking girls went off to prep the food... because it's easier to write him out of it. But yeah, there must be like 10 men for every 500 women in this place, just a few scattered to have some families (all have daughters might i add) and that's it.

and no need for romance because we're all nice, innocent, chillaxed, nonsexual friendship beings of good intent.
One reason i like this show. I said above, we all know i'm a sucker for romance but shows like this and Non Non Biyori where it's just girls (i guess there i Nii-san on that... but he hasn't 0 zines across 3 seasons and a movie, all present for them!) and it's all innocent and chilled out. Friends being friends!

Nadeshiko and Rin can marry later in life i guess though, you know, just because

Rin looked down into her miso soup, suddenly desperate to count the diced taro that floated in the golden broth.

She'll see me blush, she worried, fidgeting with her spoon. The older girl seemed unnaturally perceptive, her cool gaze able to discern even the quietest thoughts in Rin's mind. If she couldn't calm her dancing heart even now--

"Your hair," she heard Sakura say, pulling her suddenly from the swirl of her nervous evasions. Rin raised her eyes, just in time for Sakura's fingers to brush past her cheek, curling in a lock of stray hair that she gently placed back behind her ear. "It'll get in the soup, if you're not careful."

As she pulled her hand back from Rin's face, the tips of Sakura's finger traced the very edge of her ear...but it may as well have lingered a lifetime.

Blushing seemed a distant worry, now, as Rin's body exploded in heat.

"I...should have put it up," she said, her breath almost catching in her throat as she stared across the table.

Sakura's eyes narrowed softly, a slight smile passing over her lips. "It looks good down," she said, but all Rin could hear was music.

Just, y'know, off the top of my head.

Can you imagine, though, Nadeshiko suddenly finding that Sakura and Rin are pals?

"Why is my sister texting you?"
"Oh. We ran into each other a few weekends ago. And we've been meeting up every couple of weeks to have dinner and talk."
"...what?"
"She's really cool."
"...what???"
"I guess I forgot to mention it."
"..."
"...?"
"...WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!"

I think Nadeshiko is a great pair with anyone
Totally agree. It's part of the magic of Nadeshiko.

There's an analysis to be made of the exact ways in which Rin and Nadeshiko are both--separately--vital elements of that special spark that makes Yuru Camp utterly unlike any other anime series--heck, any other show!--I've ever seen.

And it goes well beyond the obvious idea that the show would be different if you were to remove either of them. Yes, they are intrinsic to what makes the show work as remarkably well as it does, but...Yuru Camp is incomparable, all but an astrological alignment of elements that, when taken separately, seem to defy common sense. This show should be light, and it should be funny. But it's more than that. And both Rin and Nadeshiko are great characters, but they're more than that, too, when it comes to their effect on the overall experience.

So...someone get on explaining all that.
