    Hi all,

We've added a another substantial amount of new anime and manga tags recently. As a reminder, you can post suggestions for new tags, as well as anime/manga that are missing specific tags, in the tag section of the forum. Help out by posting missing ones in the above section!

And remember that you can check out recently added tags anytime by using the "date added" sort on the tags page.

The Cooking tag used to be a top-level category for anything related to cooking, baking, or drink making and contained recipes. We've changed the tag so that it's for food-themed titles where cooking is a focus. And subsequently added a separate Recipes tag (as well as a Baking tag). This means we could use your help in correctly shifting around anything in the existing Cooking tag.

    The new Cooking description:

Cooking is the focus of these food-themed manga, whether the characters within attend a Culinary School, work in a Restaurant or are simply passionate home cooks. These manga may offer step-by-step Recipes for various dishes or plating techniques.

The characters in these food-themed anime love to bake tasty treats! They might be professional bakers or pastry chefs, students in a Culinary School studying to become a patissier, or enthusiastic people who love to bake as a hobby. These anime may offer step-by-step Recipes so viewers can bake the same delicious bread or pastries at home.

These food-themed anime showcase step-by-step instructions on how to create a dish, typically including a full recipe with images. The recipes may be for baked goods, savory dishes, or beverages.

We've finally added a top-level category that includes both Yaoi and Shounen-Ai.

BL (short for Boys' Love) is a genre that depicts homosexual relationships between men, written by women, for women. BL is the predominant term in Japan. In the West, the term Shounen-ai categorizes romantic stories that focus on emotional aspects of relationships, while Yaoi categorizes more of the sexual aspects such as Smut or explicit content.

Though it isn't as common as BL, we added a corresponding GL category for both Yuri and Shoujo-ai titles.

GL (short for Girls' Love) is a genre that depicts homosexual relationships between women. On Anime-Planet, Shoujo-ai categorizes romanticstories that focus on emotional aspects of relationships, while Yuri categorizes more of the sexual aspects such as Borderline H or explicit content.

    Opposites Attract

Characters in these anime are polar opposites, but are drawn together in spite of their different personalities. They may start out hostile towards one another and slowly warm up to each other, or the attraction might be instantaneous, hitting them like a tidal wave of unexplained, out-of-control passion.

These anime feature characters who are currently going through a divorce, or have recently gotten divorced. Typical themes include facing the emotional ramifications of ending a marriage, dealing with child custody issues, and finding new love.

    Fated Lovers

These anime feature couples that are destined to be together. They may have been chosen for each other by a higher power, loved each other in a past life, or live in a world where everyone has a fated soulmate that they can instinctively tell is "the one".

    Mature Romance

These Romance anime typically feature relationships between Adult Couples or College students. Unlike high school romances, these stories typically feature more mature themes that adults experience in relationships.

    Adult Couples

These anime feature romantic or sexual relationships between two adults.

These anime take place in a college, a university, or a post-secondary school.

These anime feature professional educators, and focus on the classroom setting. Teachers in these anime might work at a traditional school, or other locations such as a royal palace, a Magic Academy, or a Monster School.

These anime address issues that middle-aged and elderly people face. Common themes include dealing with declining health, losing a life-long spouse, or having a mid-life crisis. More upbeat topics can include enjoying retirement, learning to adjust to modern times, or becoming a parent later in life.

    Comic Essays

A comic essay (コミックエッセイ or エッセイ漫画) is a manga genre that draws on the author's life experiences, much like an Autobiography, to discuss lifestyle topics such as travel, cuisine, child-raising or pet care, or mental health.

These anime feature Disney characters or franchises.

    Sanrio Characters

These anime feature characters created by Sanrio, a company that creates adorable Japanese products and franchises. Famous examples include Hello Kitty, Gudetama, and Keroppi.

    San-X Characters

These anime feature characters created by San-X, a Japanese stationary company that creates adorable products and franchises. Unlike Sanrio, San-X's characters are often quirky or bizarre, such as a zombie rabbit, a dog with an afro, or a family made of cheese. Famous examples of more traditional characters include Tarepanda, Sumikko Gurashi, and Rilakkuma.

    Dragon Quest

These anime are related to the Dragon Quest video game franchise.

    Sister Complex

These anime feature Siblings with a Sister Complex: they want nothing more than to ensure the well-being and happiness of their beloved sister, often to an unhealthy or even romantic degree. They're known to be over-protective and jealous of their sister's suitors.

These anime feature chief executive officers (CEOs). In businesses and corporations, CEOs are the Big Boss, the highest-ranking person who is ultimately responsible for making managerial decisions.

These anime feature characters who are employed at host clubs: high-priced venues where male staff members cater to the needs of women and homosexual men by pouring them drinks and engaging them in attentive conversation. Some hosts may also have sex for money behind closed doors.

These anime include psychopaths: people who often engage in frightening or violent behavior with no regard for the feelings or safety of others and usually derive pleasure from the fear and distress their behavior causes. This can have severe and often fatal consequences for the people around them. Some may be Serial Killers, or engage in other violent criminal activity.

    Based on a 4-Koma Manga

These anime are based on a 4-koma manga: a media style that shows single jokes or self-contained Gagsin a 4-panel structure. The format of these anime tends to be similar, featuring standalone gags and Comedy segments.

    Based on a Song

These anime have a story based on song lyrics or a music video - whether they are inspired by classic songs, or by more modern works, such as Vocaloid songs.
