Golden Kamuy 2nd Season

Oh man, can't wait to watch the 2nd season! Really love this anime, is definitely a favorite one :D
Also MORE ASIRPA WEIRD FACE (⇀‸↼‶)

Ep1:
It IS more bonkers than the last one. It starts off with
a catwalk presentation of multiple skin suits, made by a guy abducted from a Criminal Minds episode. He talks with his dead, taxidermied mother who killed his father and castrated him as a boy because their dicks look similar. Then he basically falls in love with Tsurumi. Brilliant.

EP. 1

I could not tell if the taxidermist was a Geiner or a Dahmer! I'll go with Ed Gein! What fun. Scarface knows his crap! Now bad things will happen.

Episode 1:

@GenSan The context did not disappoint XD

Ep 1

I'm..... too sexy for my skin, too sexy for my skin so sexy it hurts!!!!!
I'm a skin model, you know what I mean.
I wear all my family's skin with a cat walk.
With a cat walk
With a cat walk
I must wear my family's skin with a cat walk
(You played that song in your head as you read it didn't you)

I dub thee little boner.

That's Ep 1 in a nutshell

Now that that's out of the way.

Let's talk about this cat

He's an ugly and poorly drawn cat. Which is what I expect from this show so 10 points to Gryffindor.

It seems like they've stopped outlining their background in blue which is fantastic because it looked dumb as hell. Things are looking interesting and I can't wait to see what's in store for our beloved immortal man and ass reaper.

Ready for episode 2!

A bit late since I was rewatching the first season before starting the second one.

Season 2 continues just as wacky as Season 1 ended, which in my eyes, is a good thing. Apart from all the weirdness surrounding the taxidermist, there's also some rather intriguing plot development though.

The fox lady shows up again, predicting one of Asirpa's companions to be a traitor. Assuming she speaks the truth, I can't imagine it to be Sugimoto, but both Shiraishi and Kiroranke have something shady about them. We've known for a while that Shiraishi is working with Hijikata behind the group's back, though to what extent he actually wants to is an entirely different matter. Now one could argue that Shiraishi is such a goofball that he can't possibly turn evil, but with this show and its tonal shifts, you never know.

Kiroranke meanwhile is hinted to not actually be an Ainu at all, both by Hijikata in his conversation with Ushiyama and, more subtly, by Inkarmat later on, when she tells Tanigaki about the three "hispa" who are with Asirpa. As far as I've picked up, "hispa" is some kind of term for people who are not Ainu.

Meanwhile, the last scene before the credits roll reveal Inkarmat to be working with Tsurumi, so her whole motives are questionable anyway. If anything, I'll be watching closely to see how this will all develop.

With episode 2,
that last supper shot of all the characters was really funny. So it looks like one of the characters has figured out that there are fake skins, so this is gonna get interesting.

Not only that, but apparently Tsurumi only has five, while Hijikata found the sixth that Edogai had left behind under the wardrobe.

I really enjoyed this episode. Great mix of wacky action scenes (the minecart chase sequence being my favourite), plot development and some well-timed humour. Asirpa's reaction to "Chinpo-sensei's" reappearance was golden. If I have one complaint, it's that I feel Kiroranke really needs more screentime. He got a bit of focus in episode 12, but other than that, he's mostly just been tagging along with the rest of the group without doing all that much. If they are indeed building up to him betraying Asirpa somewhere down the line, then I hope they'll flesh out his character a bit before that happens, otherwise it'll probably fall flat.

The soldier who delivered the skins probably has the sixth one, as he was shown walking away ominously when Tsurumi said "five". The one Hijikata has is the sample that Edai got to recreate it.

Unless I really got confused.

Huh, I didn't catch that. Thanks for pointing this out.

Episode 2:
uc

My stomach still hurts from laughing at this. Asirpa is Jesus confirmed! Upon doing some research (because I'm a nerd), I found that (as I guessed), Kiroranke is in the place of Judas, basically confirming his eventual betrayal, especially considering Asirpa is in the Jesus position :o
Why does that sound like some weird sex position?

This whole episode was just balls to the wall crazy, exactly what I've come to expect from this show. For a second I was worried we were going to have an episode with no food porn scene, but then they gave us the Last Supper and I couldn't be happier. Sad to see the mad taxidermist/macabre runway model go, but I guess it probably would have gotten tough to keep up the gag after a point... Could he have chosen a more conspicuous outfit to escape in though?

Episode 3:

Solid episode, though I have to say I was disappointed with the dream sequence at the end. I feel like they were going for shock value with Sugimoto viciously stabbing Shiraishi to death like that, but unfortunately, I saw the "it was just a dream" reveal coming from a mile away because of how it was directed. I'm glad it wasn't real because Shiraishi is one of my favourite characters, but I wish they would have executed that dream in a more realistic manner to keep up the suspense a little longer.

Having Sugimoto's and Hijikata's groups join up is an interesting development. It did feel weird to have Chinpo-sensei and Ogata along for the obligatory food scene, but I'll admit the new setup made for some refreshing character moments. I also like Ogata as a character in general, so I'm not complaining here.

Episode 2:

Oh skin boy is back
unknown.png

and he CLEARLY changed into that to go scold those guards, boy this is not what you were wearing 5 seconds ago!

What an accurate expression for these events, I feel ya man.

This boy has...just....a multitude of issues.

The boy is dead and this fun is over.

XD This anime I swear.

So far I'm still loving it.

There are parts where things are just a bit too wacky but I'm not familiar with the manga so that may just be how it's supposed to be.

Starting Episode 3 now.
