You know, one of the things I worried about when I heard that Jinx was going to be a main focus was that it was just gonna be some trendy Harley Quinn bandwagon imitation.
Fuuuuuuck me if this all, especially that finale, was not one of the best "character births" I have ever seen in any media.
I genuinely feel worn out, in a good way.
The wait for season 2 is going to be painful. And even more painful is how I suspect they might not do a continuation of this part, instead jumping to another part of the world with the intent of having different seasons build up to something larger.
I want that as well, but oh boy are there some characters here that I want to see how they will develop.
There ain't no way they don't pick up back in Piltover next season. You don't end on a cliffhanger like that and then just scoot over to Shurima or something.

I actually have beef with how they did Ekko. Riot has this annoying habit of taking characters with loving families in their backstories, and just writing over it for angst.
Annie used to have two loving parents. One rewrite later, she's apparently accidentally killed them both...
Zac used to have these two adopted scientists as parents and was a happy goo monster guy. One rewrite later, they were murdered by the Zaunite mob and he's a brooding blobby Batman.
And Ekko has two loving parents who work hard to support him, and he's a cool, chill dude. One rewrite in this series later, they aren't anywhere to be seen and he's this moody undercity rebel.
Like why does Riot hate characters having happy backstories? They off parents like Disney now.
Hell's Bells, this series added a new parent (Vander) just so they could kill him too. And if that ending was any indication,
Jayce and Caitlyn are about to lose a parent as well.

Heh… killing Vander might’ve been the kinder route. Pretty sure he’s going to become Warwick.
But I didn’t know that about Ekko or Annie. I agree, it’s nice to see people with a loving family sometimes in a world of edgy orphans.
Actually, for Annie that makes her powers and personality even more crazy. Like, cute innocent daughter by day, murderous pyromaniac by night.
With Ekko, they could’ve made him with a family but he still sneaks around to make a better life for the orphans. Or maybe his parents even do what they can to help.

Jarvan IV: Dad mysteriously killed during the Mage Uprising when Sylas came out.
Miss Fortune: Mom murdered by Gangplank
Vayne: Parents murdered by Evelynn.
Nunu: Dead mom, possibly killed by Lissandra.
Ashe: Dead mom.
Darius and Draven: Orphans.
Katarina and Cassiopea: Dad went missing.
Fiora: Forced to kill her dad in a duel to spare him dishonor by execution.
Irelia: Entire family murdered when Noxus invaded Ionia.
Kayle and Morgana: Dad mortally wounded when they had a throwdown.
Shyvana: Murdered her crazy dragon mom who was trying to murder her first.
Rengar: Gutted his own father when he went soft.
Rell: Parents ran an evil Noxian science academy where they turned her into a superweapon.
Yasuo: Killed his brother. (Though he came back as a demon samurai guy and they buried the hatchet)
...Jumping Jesus. This game just hates any semblance of happy amilies.
So, I have a theory. Big beard man here. Mel's mom's soldier guy. I kept wondering why this guy got a unique design and the others didn't. So I got to thinking. Yadda yadda yadda, I think that's Urgot. He was a Noxian soldier before he got thrown in prison in Zaun. And with Silco gone, season 2 is gonna need a new villain. I'm predicting an Urgot origin season.
I'd mostly just seen League characters drawn in fanart so I wasn't aware of just how bad the problem was, but oh boy am I glad that it seems Arcane is bringing the hatchet to the female character designs of standard league.
Wow, they weren't kidding about the same-face syndrome for the female champions.
And yeah I've seen the charts showing all the face icons of the human(body) characters designed to not be explicitly ugly. Same exact faces, heads, noses, eyebrows, skin. Just different hair cuts, makeup flair and eye color.
Good riddance.

Yeah, LoL has always had a big problem with same-face syndrome. Same body syndrome, too. That's why I was so excited for Vex. She was something new for once.
I mean they used to have champs like Rek'Sai and Vel'Koz.
I want more of that, and less pretty girls and boys. Hell, after Yuumi, the next 12 champs were either fanservice-y or cutesy.

Just finished this and fucking wow man, what an amazing ending of incredible proportions for this season.
I wasn't expecting to get this depressed over Silco's death, he was without a doubt such a superbly well written antagonist with understandable motivations, nuance and genuinely felt Jinx was a daughter. He had moments of weakness I could empathize with. Loved his character to death.
They really got me though, with the whole dinner party thing where I was clenching my butt cheeks so hard and I thought Jinx was going to serve up someone's head on a platter there lol......the best moment of the episode.

They wouldn't off a playable character like that. They tried pulling that same trick when I read Garen: First Shield. They had Quinn get hit with a crossbow bolt, and they milked that for all it was worth. They can't fool me.
Is this something I can watch without knowing anything about League of Legends? It looks good and Miyavi is the voice actor for a character while also contributing a song to the soundtrack, so I'm pretty interested in giving it a try but I never got into the game itself.

It's fairly self-contained, bordering on alt-universe at times. You might miss an easter egg or two, but yeah, you can watch it with no real knowledge of the game.
Since this was recommended to me I might check this out soon! Before I was more like "eh, I'll watch it if I'm bored" even though I've heard good things about it, mainly because I absolutely hate League of Legends (I think MOBAs and their often toxic playerbases are pure garbage and these days avoid them like the plague) but not only is it longer than I thought, the episodes are also around 40 minutes each. Holy shit.
The more I'm being told about it the more I get the impression I absolutely need to binge this.
