You can request any anime to be added in this thread. We currently do not add (most) OELs.

If you're looking to update an existing anime, such as episode counts or other content, use the other thread.

How to request a new anime

When requesting a new anime, please include as much context as you can for what the series is and any info associated with it, such as an ANN or other database link. News posts (in English or native language) is helpful also for series that don't have much info.

See the Music Video and Vocaloid Guidelines section below for additional requirements for those requests.

    -------

How we decide what to add to the database

For a detailed breakdown of how moderators define "anime" for the purpose of our database, including examples such as Avatar and RWBY, expand the spoiler tag:
In order to consider a series, film, or short for inclusion on Anime-Planet, at least one item in both of the below sections must be met.

    Audience
    • If it's made solely for a western audience, it is not anime.
    • If it's made for a Japanese, Korean, or Greater China audience, it might be anime.
    • If it's made for an international audience, it might be anime.

    Creative Production Process
    • If it's animated in the west, but with a creative production team in Asia*, then it might be anime. This only applies to small productions.*
    • If it's animated in Asia, but the rest of the production (storyboards, writing, directing, producing, etc.) is done in the west, then it's not anime.
    • If it's animated in Asia, and the entirety of the production is made in asia, then it is anime.
    • If it's animated in Asia, but is a co-production between Asia and the west, meaning both parties took a significant role in the creative production process, then it might be anime.

    Notes:
    • The term "Asia" is used above to include Japan, Korea, and the Greater China area.
    • The term "small productions" refers to a work by a small team (1-8 people) with a max duration of 6 minutes; also, these these productions typically have low production values.

A few examples of criteria being met, and criteria not being met.
    • Naruto is made for a Japanese audience, animated in Japan, and entirely produced in Japan. It is anime.
    • RWBY is made for an international audience, animated in America, and entirely produced in America. It is not anime.
    • Adventure Time was made for an American audience, animated in Korea, and entirely produced in America. It is not anime.
    • Great Pretender was made for an international audience, animated in Japan, and produced in Japan. It is anime.
    • Avatar and The Legend of Korra are made for an international audience, animated in Korea, and are entirely produced in America. It is not anime.
    • Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya was made for an international audience, animated in Japan, and produced in America and Japan, with Japan taking on many of the key creative roles on the project, including: directing, animating, co-producing, and designing the series. It is anime.

We do currently have several "exceptions" in the database due to one-off past decisions, such as Castlevania. We currently do not have plans to remove these, or add any other works like them.

    Music Video and Vocaloid Guidelines
Vocaloid content is very time consuming and difficult to add without a lot of research. We ask that you only request a video you've confirmed has actual movement (instead of simply a still shot).

In addition to a video link (on Youtube, etc) if you have one, please include the corresponding page/info on the Vocaloid wiki. Do this for each video you'd like added (moderators don't have the time to personally triage an entire playlist of videos for a producer).

Please be aware that you may encounter some music videos in the database which do not meet our current animation standards. In the past, there was no uniform criteria we used to determine music video eligibility, and we've decided to keep what was already added so there is minimal impact to users' lists. Vocaloid videos tend to fall under the slideshow category, so be mindful when you request them.

If requesting a music video that is part of a larger franchise–especially multimedia franchises–context (as to what it is for, why it was made etc), song performer and related anime/character info must be provided. This includes franchises like Ensemble Stars!, Love Live! and BanG Dream! If the music video is promoting a product of any kind like a makeup line or a mobile game, that info must be included as well.

    ADDED
    S)

    Foreground and Background Animation

    A)
    Foreground Animation

    B)
    Background Animation

    C)
    Minimal Animation

    F) NOT ADDED

    Special Effects Animation
    • Pre-generated animations
      • Smoke effect simulations
      • Light flares
      • Particle effect simulations
      • Liquid simulations
      • Fire simulations
    • Movement of hard subtitles
    • Image manipulation
      • This is hard to differentiate but basically imagine moving an asset in photoshop to emulate motion. It is typically very static in its motion. The characters in LUVORATORRRRRY are image manipulation.
    • Examples:

    Slideshows

    Example Cases:

Giga: CH4NGE falls under the Minimal Animation category and is the very limit of what we would add to the database. The limbs of the character are considered manipulated imagery–which is not technically animated. Although the eye, mouth and glasses movements are consistently animated which would qualify to add.

TOOBOE: Darwin uses real life photography and animates the video through these static images–similar to stop-motion which is another form of animation that we add. As long as the product is animated, it does not matter the material that is being animated.

Live-action MVs can be added if there is around half of the music video that is animated. For example GRADES: King has consistent animation throughout, despite it not being the primary focus in the video until a small segment later.

Expand this section for common "failures" and why they happened:

    • Magic Knight Rayearth is listed as a single entry with 49 episodes.
    • Finder Series is a motion comic and not a fully animated series.

Reposting my requests as separate messages, per mods' advice:

    Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution Zero

    https://myanimelist.net/anime/55080/Koukyoushihen_Eureka_Seven_Hi-Evolution_Zero
    https://animeschedule.net/anime/pachislot-eureka-seven-3

Are they eligible to be added?

Original net animation prequel series for Hi-Evolution Movie 1 produced by studio BONES in partnership with Sammy Co. as a promotion for tied-in pachislot games.
AFAIK these are NOTcut-scenes from the games, but serve as a prequel to the events of the film Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution 1's opening segment, which is a flashback to the events behind the entire Eureka Seven franchise, a world-threatening apocalypse called the Summer of Love and the main character of the series, Renton Thurston's father, Adroc Thurston's mysterious legendary involvement in it.

Three parts can be watched on Sammy's official webpage:

A few updates regarding MS Gundam Witch from Mercury Recap I added back when I was a mod-in-training.
It seems that there are more of them.

The aforementioned recap covers episodes 1-6 and aired November 13, 2022:

However there was a second part covering episodes 7-12; premiered Mar 5, 2023:

There was also a special recap episode covering whole Season1:

Second Season also have its own recap episode.
    https://myanimelist.net/anime/55283/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam__Suisei_no_Majo_Season_2_Recap

It covers first five episodes, i.e. ep 13-17 in overall count:

Please update 1st season recap page (change to two episodes) and add two other missing recap entries.

NOTE: These episodes were originally accessible on YT for the Japanese. After my original post, they were made private, but I still have access to them if you want some credits/screenshots.

Too bad Cradle Planet is probably not animated enough to meet A-P guidelines, but I'll post it anyway - maybe I'm wrong and it can be added:
