This was completely different than what I imagined.
The atmosphere for the most part was very dreary. I was expecting a chill relaxing show but this was actually a bit heavy. I still definitely enjoyed it though and I want to see where the story goes.

Was the sadness an ep 1 thing? will they keep the atmosphere like that? Do they plan to make the entire show slowly cheer up as the mc gets friends and stuff? I'm betting on this last one but who knows.

Her actually reading the manual was hilarious.

I have to say though, among the many shows that I watched and enjoyed even if they were glorified commercials... this was a definitely on the nose. I get it Honda, you want me to buy a scooter but chill the fuck out, the logo was on screen like 100 times.

Daym... this is going to be hella awesome, isn't it? Can already tell a lot of thought was put into the story's progression.

I know jackshit about bikes but watching her try to figure out what went wrong was super intense. Got me glued to the screen.

And I love her hair design.

Next ep she bumps into Rin from Yuru Camp on her scooter and they hit it off like a most perfect couple. Rejoice.

Episode 1:

I wish they coulda use some of that Honda money to do something bout that jarring CG but otherwise everything looks nice.

Anyhoo, I like this so far. I went in blind so the dour and melancholic beginning and minimal presentation kinda caught me off-guard but in a good way. It certainly was a strong start IMO. This seems to be leaning more on iyashikei so yeah this show's got my attention now.

Well this is actually set in the same prefecture as Yuru Camp so who knows lol. It certainly does explain the beautiful countryside scenery porn.

Oh yikes, this was not what i expected at all! It was great!!!
No i mean, i expected it to be good but
i wasn't expecting the sad life of the kid, that's for sure, yet i kind of enjoyed it. The dead parents was passable as its not uncommon but the no friends, clearly no money and heck the incredibly pale skin (which cub-kun shows us is intentional) was kinda of unexpected, i was as @Nekus said, expecting a pretty chill and happy vibe show.
Anyway i did enjoy the murky part, it kind of left me feeling so bad for her, i just wanted things to work out and her line at the end, "Before, i had nothing, but now, i have my Cub" i mean, c'mon, that was adorable!

I think it might be likely its a slowly cheer up type show, maybe not the whole series but i doubt it will perk up rapidly...well, it will but slowly if that makes sense. I am down for that though.
The idea of her world essentially gaining colour when she sat on it told me this is her ticket to happiness but equally i think it will take until episode 5 area for her world to feel better, like maybe she will make a friend or 2 in the following ones but still be awkward. Whatever, it's still good.

Yup, same here. I know nothing on bikes but internally my voice kept cheering her on, wanting for her to fix this thing (and i laughed when she actually started reading the manual for it, that was great!).

It's certainly a show you just want things to go her way.
So it was a amazing first episode for sure.
Not what i expected yet in a weird roundabout way, it was much better than i expected!!!
This is top of my list for the season i think.

He said he loved the porn version of Yuru Camp so he's bound to love this too due to all the heavy breathing and moaning noises Koguma makes while riding her bicycle at the beginning.

I didn't even notice these haha.
on a side note
props to the guy in the shop. He basically gave her the bike for free, the "death" thing aside, i think he just was a good guy who saw she looked dead inside, seeing her world get so much colour from sitting on it sure was a blessing. The guy was so damn nice, basically gave her the bike, sorted her to pass the exam, gave her helmet and gloves and taught her how to start it (if that counts), helpfully packed her user guide safely... damn what a top guy!
This... it feels wholesome in a weird way, i swear i might love this show so much right now, i almost wanna watch the episode again!!!

oh oh
and her smile and she looks through the window at cub-kun, this is a smile i love to see.
Oh man i hope she names her bike (she will, right?), i want her to name it so much, and just talk about it like a family member or something...
I wanna say my post is getting weird at this point but i don't even care... this series is a blessing for my heart!

Yeh. If they keep the melancholic notes in the later episodes as well, this could become another masterpiece on par with Girls' Last Tour, which would be an automatic 5/5 as far as I'm concerned.
ohhh very interesting comparison, actually that show was great!
This is got me so conflicted internally, do i want the melancholic vibes and cloud of darkness to stay present around her whilst she take small bliss in her cub or do i want her to slowly grow to become happy and bright along her cub... i know the latter is the likely one but they both sound so good.

And Girls last tour managed to find ground in the middle, at yeah it's 5/5 if it even comes close to that (though i can't help expecting high things now... though that could be my inner bias as i didn't expect anything would quite fill the void knowing Non Non Biyori is finished left in me... go cub!!).

I predict this will give @interregnum 3 (possibly 4) violent spasmodic orgasms by the time he gets to the halfway mark.
Wait... @interregnum is this on your list?
Um...I had not planned on watching this.

He said he loved the porn version of Yuru Camp so he's bound to love this too due to all the heavy breathing and moaning noises Koguma makes while riding her bicycle at the beginning.
...okay, fine.

But if I don't love it...

But if I don't love it...
Gotta love that strong resolve...
I would normally say you will love it, i like to think i know the shows you do/don't... not quite sure this is your thing or not as honestly, i never pinned you for a Yuru camp lover either... turns out i don't know your taste as well as i thought!

Watching now.
As long as you come out saying you just wanna hug her for having such a rough life... and hug the hold dude for being such a great guy... heck hugs all round!!!
or ya'know... you just feel bad for her... or or or you like her bike!!! Oh oh or you love how great it was!

Or... don't, whatever - as said I'm not 100% it's your gig or not.

So you should stick around regardless.
^He puts a fair argument up (for @interregnum at least).

... i don't even need more characters, i could watch her and bike-kun all day and never tire! (Pun intended!).
And i boldly make that statement after a single episode!

Boy, I sure do love 10 minutes of storytelling played out over 25 minutes. Yes sir, that is my favorite kind of thing.

Unless the hot chicks on the poster you mentioned are going to be having sex with each other on that verkakte scooter, I cannot imagine me watching another episode of this snoozefest.

I mean, good on ya, if you enjoyed it. I hope you continue to do so!

Me? Bored to the point of yelling at the screen.

There's a beautiful story about this utterly isolated girl finding a thread of life in her washed-out world, in there, but I cannot suffer watching the tea kettle that is this show take 12 episodes to boil. Not when I have Prisma Illya to force upon myself.

Dropped like change in front of a convenience store.

^ I should've guessed that anything less than the Redo Of Healer level of debauchery would be automatically deemed a prosaic snoozefest by the likes of the refined gentleman above me.
But wait... as you said, there's still a slight chance of them having kinky sex on that scooter in a later episode, so I am still firmly of the opinion you should keep on with this one.
