Food Wars! The Fourth Plate

...is Food Food wars a misspelling or is that the legit title? I don't watch this show but that sounds strange to me.

The manga is wrapping up and this is looking to be the last season of the anime. I'm glad it's ending as the manga went sour a long time ago.

Damn you're right. Fixed that. Thanks.

It was announced on the magazine's cover.

This is just a guess but I'm assuming the show was greenlit long before the manga ending was announced, maybe around the 3rd season finished. So they didn't really have much choice but to finish it up.

So more erotic reactions to food, exploding clothes, ecchi, boys with sharp looking eyes and colourful hair, ecchi, food porn, ridiculous cooking techniques that you would never see from Guy Fieri, a bunch of shady villains that look down on MC, ecchi, and of course, Isshiki’s well done rump.

I stopped reading the manga where this should pick up, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to finishing the manga. I've already spoiled myself on how it ended... so, if nothing else, I'll be watching this to fill in some of the gaps. The main thing I want to see is if this is going to be the final season, will they go ahead and adapt everything they can and tie up the plot? Or will they simply pull a Bleach and just not animate the final arc?

Can anyone tell me how many arc will be in this season(don't tell me blue arc).
I drop this in the middle of blue arc(blue arc gave me headache).

Well, I don't really even know where to begin with all that. It's clear they are rushing right along. I don't think even the last season was this fast paced. The thing that really threw me off though was when we got a flashback in the middle of the Shokugeki and basically had a Shokugeki within the Shokugeki. Based on the pacing, I wouldn't be surprised if they intend to shove as much of the final arc into this as possible too. Although, I can't imagine 12 episodes being enough to cover over 100 chapters of content... now that I look at the remaining chapters and titles, I bet they could finish the rest of this arc by episode 6 and have the last 6 episodes to cover whatever they choose from the final arc. I could see that happening.

The OP and ED are good, but they are also kind of ridiculous.

Hoo... judging two dishes simultaneously. I didn't think we could move any faster, but they showed me.

The fan service appears to have stepped up from last season too. Maybe there just haven't been as many female chefs and judges lately. Although, the two male judges in this episode were not nearly as lewded as the female one was.

All-in-all, I honestly couldn't care too much about the dishes at the moment. It just feels like nothing really matters right now. Especially with how quickly we are moving. Everything is being glazed over. Even the judging was pretty much just like, "Yeah it's good, but the other guys was better." There just seems to be far less technical discussion now than there was before.

I feel like watching these episodes are giving me a headache. We're just blistering through everything way too quick. Even when we aren't in the matches the pacing for the scenes just feels like they are giving us so little information so they can get to the end as fast as possible. I know it's always been a little fast paced, but this season is just putting the others to shame.

I'm a little surprised that no one from the rebel team won during the second bout. I sort of expected at least the sushi guy to go down. But, I guess he'll lose to Souma now, since he'll have been tired from the previous match. I also doubt Eizan will win, since he's already been beaten before and Aldini needs a moment to shine. The only person who I don't think will win is Megumi. I would be very surprised if she won.

That's interesting, because I feel like
Megumi will probably win. It would be weird to set her up so much and have such a let down considering the fact that she already lacks self-confidence and she's up against someone so formidable with an ingredient that is easily incorporated into their specialty. I feel like it would be too predictable for Megumi to lose because literally all of the odds are stacked against her.

Maybe I'm just being too optimistic.

I mean, she's shown some nice growth in the last couple seasons. She's certainly come a long way from the beginning of the series. It'd be nice to see her get a victory against someone big. But, I just can't imagine her winning against Momo at 100%. Megumi hasn't shown anything that I think can compare to any of the Elite 10. Maybe if Momo had been worn out in the previous match like Soumei. But, I guess we'll see.

That episode went by pretty quick, but it didn't feel as rushed as some of the previous episodes from this season. Maybe it's because I didn't watch 3 episodes back-to-back this week, but it seemed to have a more natural pacing.

That being said, the show has noticeably given up on showing cooking at real time. It's something I wasn't really thinking about before, but this episode pretty much just had character reactions, flashbacks, and then suddenly the dishes were complete. We aren't getting to see the techniques and methods implemented like before. They are simply explaining all that away at the end during the judging. It's hard to say if that is because we are cutting so much out of the anime, or if that is just where we are at in the series. I haven't read the manga up to this point, so I can't really say.

Overall, I still would be surprised if Megumi won this match. Granted, I wasn't expecting her to have been trained by Shinomiya. So, I guess she has that going for her at least?

Calling someone the "magician of legumes" just makes me think of them using a green bean as a magic wand.

Anyway.

That first dish with the roses was ridiculous. Even the basket was made of bread? Talk about overkill. It did sound really fucking good, though. I hate this show for making me want to eat everything.

Even though it ended with a cliffhanger, I'm glad the pace seemed steadier in this episode than it has in the past few. Her dish looks unimpressive, but I have faith in my girl Megumi. Whatever is in the middle of those pancakes may not be as over-the-top as roses painted with rose petal syrup, but maybe it'll be so impressive that she'll win in the end. If not, then way to get our hopes up for nothing, show.

Finally some relationship growth in Episode 3. I was getting tired of just the battles. I want to see some more development among the First years.

Binged the hell out of this series for the last two weeks to get caught up.

Good to see my boy Takumi yank that W out of his ass. Get wrecked, Eizan, you're a C-tier Aizen and no one loves you.

On a side note I wish someone would give Megumi a hug. She needs one after that L. Poor girl.

Not really surprised that Megumi lost. She didn't seem like she was going to cause an upset. She did her best though? Maybe next time. I feel like that's pretty much her entire character trait in this series though... poor Megumi.

In regards to Eizan, I don't really even know why he's here. He lost his relevancy when Souma beat him awhile back. Having Aldini push him down further wasn't much of a thing. Although, their match felt more like old school Shokugeki no Souma when we were actually learning about the dishes and following the cooking along. So, at least we haven't completely continued with rush, rush, rush. This episode felt a good bit slower than the previous, to the point where I'm not sure what all is going to be fit into this season, assuming it's only 1 cour. We're reaching the halfway mark and we still haven't finished this round.

I'm sure Souma will win next week though.
