Just noticed it exists. I've seen the film and liked it somewhat, but that hardly guarantees the same for a very loose adaptation. So, does it expand on the original, and is worth watching, or just rips off the film's story and stays mediocre?

Why nobody use the gold... they stole it... so why not... >.<

Been a while since I watched it, but if I recall...

Firstly, using the gold shortly after a train cart full of gold went missing would have been a pretty bad idea, so they had to wait regardless. In the meantime I think it wound up in the swamp by accident at some point, (a flood, or something caused the cart to roll off, etc.) so they just started using it as a sort of phantom collateral for loans and such.

Though that's all pretty close to being no more than an educated guess at this point -.-' Can't say I remember many of the details all too well by now.
