just finished watching this series, and if you are reading this too, im sure you know as well as i do how confusing it was.
dave and i have an idea about what was really going on, feel free to agree/disagree or post your own ideas.
we think that Kouhei, being so distraught from his sister's death, retreated into his mind and had a split personality after that point. reasons why:
they never say the name of the guy with the keys. but they look identical. they never are talking at the same time, nor do they meet with the girls at the same time. the guy with the keys is always saying "he just left" and the girls are confused, perhaps because he is really the same guy, but whenever his real self retreats into his mind, and he "becomes" this other person, he acts like a different person too. he always says that he "will come back" (will come back from hiding, per say.. and resurface). who would he be to know this, if they werent the same person? a friend? doubtful. they never explain what his role is with Kouhei, so it probably isnt that they are brothers, best friends, etc.
