This isn’t my type of genre, but there’s no denying the writing is too good to be overlooked. Just based on episode 1.

Yeah, I can’t believe I actually gave this an 8/10 after putting up with the absolute horror of an animation that seasons 1 and 2 were. It just got better and better from season 3 where music, characters, production value in general got a massive boost. Episode 11 from this season was gold.

My weekly dose of court intrigue. Power hungry clans sending princesses into the court to grab power, family feuds and the like. Ravens and mythologies. This show looks promising. Also, Shikata Akiko for the ED.

One Republic doing an anime song (ed for Kaiju No.8). What a world to be in.

The stuff before the op and the animal conversation after the op was spot on bizarre, and in an amusing way too. The op sequence is very fitting too. “I guess we’ll turn into something too, soon (at the age of 21). And we won’t have a choice.” Sounds weirdly profound to me.

Highly intelligent court servants as MCs getting involved in palace politics is the plot for me. The show reminds me of an old anime called Jang Geum’s Dream which is Apothecary Diaries minus the romance/mystery solving and more court intrigue.

They broke the fourth wall.

This has got to be Miyazaki’s most confusing abstract piece of work. The world building is amazing, but the script is a mess. The single consistent theme is the two-sided nature of the characters separated between afterlife and reality. The world is in chaos, but the world keeps spinning...

An angel’s dropping lol. This show is truly a unique gem. It’s in its own league, it just doesn’t feel right to give it a score.

Ep11 was the most politically intriguing thus far.

Who’s here for the Amuro vs Kaito Kid episode? Next movie is going to feature Heiji vs Kaito Kid. I swear they’ll be doing one for Amuro vs Kid within the next 5 years.

This family is so SO dysfunctional…and disturbingly realistic too. Everything after episode 7 is a mess.

Gakuto is a first grade elementary school student, but he can read kanji like any other adult and speak like any other adult. It scares me.

Movie level production. It doesn’t quite top Monster but those 8 episodes were intense.
