As for Linka's intro in Captain Planet...heh, yeah. It changed A LOT, over the course of the show: Soviet Union/Russia/Europe, if I'm not mistaken. Considering even now no one really knows if Russia is in Asia or Europe, NO ONE was sure where the Soviet Union, with its myriad satellite nations, was supposed to be.

they could've just assumed from the beginning that Linka was from the European portion of Russia, and stuck with their continents theme...
