Asteroid in Love

New trailer:

This might be potentially the best-looking anime made by Doga Kobo yet. Has the potential to enhance the manga material, which is pretty sweet, but visually very barebones (it's a 4koma after all). But judging by the trailer, I'm not afraid, it's in good hands.

I hope Mira and Ao's relationship is not Yuri Baiting us. I really hope that we can have a healthy relationship develop between the two of them. But, so far I think that they are adorable together and show a connection of a pair that care for one another more than just friends.

The sky porn is very poor but the characters are cute enough to make up for it. I'll continue watching, will I see the end without dropping? Who knows.

I'm here for one reason and one reason only: Sky porn. I am so HYPED to watch som-

The sky porn is very poor

Episode 1:

It's comfy CGDCT by Doga Kobo with hints of shoujo-ai. Yep. I can't say no to that.

The VA of New Game's Hifumi voicing one of the main leads is icing on the cake.

I loved it. I also really hope they're not Yuri baiting us but I'm all here for some light Shoujou Ai or some quality female friends in a platonic relationship of awesome friendship. They're so cute together tho. <3

10/10 here for the eventual sky porn and either the cute girls being in love or cute girls being bestest star buddies.

I to hope its not yuri-baiting, more of a platonic friendship that grows from a love a shared past time. While the visual effects for the starry sky were not at all impressive, character interactions were quite good and I hope for more in future episodes.

Well this is cute and mellow...also getting a Yuri vibe, which is always a plus. Super glad they got the Ao reveal out there fast. I had that figured out after reading the synopsis, and was worried they'd drag it out all episode.

Also, this one...

I like her.

Episode 2.
The obligatory onsen episode. But hey, they spent the time there discussing rocks and ancient water and such. So you learned something from it. Yay.

Episode 2:

This show is so adorable. I love how they're finding ways to mix their clubs together in ways that are fun and make sense. This feels almost Yuru Camp-ish. It's not totally there but, pretty close.

I'm loving this so far. Lets keep it up and get a lot more gay. Give me gay space yuru camp. lol

gay space yuru camp
I thought of it as more New Game but with better/more overt yuri, but...I wouldn't hate it going in a little more Yuru Camp.

And--oh yeah!--did I mention this show is kind of awesome? Like, several levels of "very very good" above where it ought to be?

Ao and Mira are properly adorable together, Suzu is fantastic, and the rest of the club (sensei included) are the exact balance of cute/dynamic that makes the episodes a compelling watch, despite nothing happening and no one really having much of a character.

Except Suzu. Who, I may have mentioned, is fantastic. I mean, she's throwing off my shipping charts, for this, a bit, but I can't hold that against her.

The VA of New Game's Hifumi voicing one of the main leads is icing on the cake.

Word, yo.

This is a good Anime but it's kinda boring?
Is that an assessment or a question?

Because, as an assessment, I'd say that I think it's a little harsh, but not inaccurate.

If it's a question, my answer is: it's uneventful--but (so far) that's very much in its favor.

To no great surprise--and, yet, very much a surprise, all things considered--Episodes 1 and 2 were not flukes. Because Episode 3 was just as fun and adorable and interesting and full of yuri-probably-not-bait as the first two.

Episode highlights include:
  • Suzu flipping out about Onee-san looking at Ao.
  • Ao veeeeeery clearly being into Mira.
  • Mira having made KISSY FANFIC ABOUT BOY-AO.
  • the twitter play-by-play tailing sequence.
  • Mira freaking out that she's only good at stacking bread.
  • Suzu flipping out about Onee-san looking at Ao, which bears mentioning twice because it was A) that good, and B) having Onee-san around means Suzu has an official ship, rather than simply gadflying--in the most wonderful way--everyone else's.
Could not be more pleased with this series, so far. And very excited to spend time with it, for the next several weeks.
