A lot of hate she's getting is because she fell for her cousin. I think it's important to remember that she didn't CHOOSE to fall for him. When she had, she tried to move on real quick because she knew that these weren't feelings she should have.
I don't feel strongly about her either way. I will say her Alfheim character has one of the best and most iconic character designs in anime. It was definitely creative. It's why she's far more remembered as Leafa than Suguha

Most misunderstood anime character ever.

Suguha is my favorite character as well as other SAO characters, she's also one of SAO's waifu
