Well-intentioned but far too naive and never really develops past 'bland protagonist' status - which, might have been the entire point of his character, as a contrast to the true MC of the show and to help along the developments of the final episodes with someone that'll play along without asking too many uncomfortable questions.

Ultimately, he's a good guy with some power behind him but that's just not enough, given the setting and political machinations.

 I like him, but i understand why others might hate him.

 A "hero" who doesn't even know what hes fighting for and who he is fighting for.

He honestly ruins the whole thing for me. I've been stalling the anime for 2 years now just because I had no motivation at all to see him every damn episode. I signed up for cool spider action (which the story thankfully still delivers), not for this boring ass dude being generic as fuck.
