While quite grating at first glance, very soon I found myself caring about this determined bundle of overflowing emotions and his twin quests of musical success and love. I think his charm comes mostly from his innocence, optimistic persistence, and honesty - he's immensely protectable (and sometimes annoying) as a result and I very much understand what Eiri sees in him.
He also happens to be the first uke I've seen and, to date, my favorite.
