I'm more pissed at him that he tried to convince Edward that he was on the same level as him because he used alchemy to bring back his mother. It was for selfish reasons but out of stupidity rather than actually destroying another being's life. The thing they created wasn't even their mother, not in the slightest, just a freak of nature so it wasn't like they hurt anyone but themselves. But Shou became all ranty and ravey in the basement and that made me hate him..
People seem to be able to dislike certain actions just because they seem unlikely to do such themselves. Something so despicable that no one could forgive yet not many seem to want to put logic into any situation.
Simply put, what happened to his daughter is tantamount to what would have happened had he not done what he had done. Do you understand what I mean? I think the character in question realizes this was morally "wrong" (I hate the whole good/bad spectrum here. I go on the basis that if some action that you would need to perform is logical in said performance, then it'd be best to perform such an action) and he certainly seems (rememeber, this is only an inference based upon his facial expressions as well as his diction) to feel horrid for performing the transmutation on his child, but the matter of the fact is that he would have to had put a child on the streets (or give the child away) if he did not. Obviously this type of character is pretty linear; the only reason people hate him is because he made a decision that "harmed" (I'd argue that Nina's fate was worse by aving to live on the streets, but I guess I can't properly judge that situation) a minor.
There's more that can be said as well as there being better diction to use, but I hope people understand the point of my sentiments. I don't "love" this character, but I disdain the amount of hatred towards this character.
