I LOVE Ōdanna so much! I think he's my favourite anime hero now (my favourite anti-hero is Mansairaku from Otogi Zoshi, with similar voice with that of Ōdanna's).
I agree that Ōdanna didn't have enough screen time in this anime, but mainly because the 2nd half of this season is about Ginji and Ranmaru's story (the first half is more on how Aoi gets to love and be loved by the Tenjin-ya crew in return). However, assuming this is Season 1 and there will be a Season 2, I think he'll take the front stage in S2. The reason is because Ep 1-26 of this anime (this installment) covers Volumes 1-5 of the novel. Volumes 6-10 of the novel has not been made into anime yet, fingers crossed it will be made soon. In Vols 6-10, we will have more about Ōdanna and Aoi, including Shiro's real motive of making Aoi a collateral, plus Ōdanna's back story (in Vol 6). The novel ends in Vol 10, btw, with an extra gaiden (vol 11) consisting of short stories of Aoi, Ōdanna and the Kakuriyo crew.
Dis boi is flipping awesome I love him so much! I feel like he doesn't get enough screen time maybe that's just me though. And he needs to hurry up and marry Aoi
