Kirito sucks ass as a character, but did have potential. If he had been written better he'd be a cool character (Same with Yaoyozuru fom MHA btw).
Subaru is cool tho
but Kazuma from KONOSUBA beats subaru all day long
but then naofumi beats the everloving crap out of kazuma
gotta love chaotic-good aligned characters
no lol kirito is cool and subaru too

I won't say that he should've been the villain. But I'd completely understand if he were. It's a good thing he has a certain degree of pain nullification, otherwise this new world would be a living hell for him.
