A librarian in her former life, Myne loves to read and will do practically anything for a good book. Unfortunately, the little girl presently lives in a world where literacy is not widespread and reading material is limited to those wealthy enough to afford it. Now the sickly young daughter of a poor family, Myne can't afford the exuberant price of books, but she refuses to be deterred - if she can't buy books, she'll find a way to make them herself!

Poster child for literacy. Go out and read a book (or a manga, at least)!
I think she has a book addiction and needs some kind of group lmao I haven't finished the show but she's really addicted to the book world.
Am I the only one that finds it odd how her name is spelt two different ways? In the first episode it was "Myne," which I preferred to "Main," which is what it's been since the second episode. Considering it's a name, it's rather annoying that it for some reason got.. translated? But I don't think can even be considered translating, more just altered, I guess
Am I weird or I love it when her devouring activates
Myne is an amazing character, she is one of the most relatable I have found in any recent anime I've seen. As a fellow bookworm and aspiring writer, I found her dedication to making and reading books to be truly inspiring and admirable; along with how touching it is to see her relationship with her family grow and how much she cares for them, and her very witty and smart ideas. Easily one of my favorite characters ever.
