To rephrase my previous comment (sorry for its cringyness), Diarmuid managed to use the "knight in shining armor" trope without the sovinist aspect that usually comes with it. He is an underrated character. Plus, he made me really interested in Irish culture and history.

Lancer is really an ideal gentleman. A noble knight but without the oh, so usual sovinist personality that goes just like "Oh, milady, please let me protect you and carry you trough this dark forest BECAUSE YOU'RE A FREAKING WEAKLING THAT CAN'T EVEN WALK BY OWN FEET. " Seriously, Lancer treated Saber as an equal opponent despite her being female. I like knights who protect the weaker ones but don't automatically expect women are the weaker ones.

Honestly, Lancer deserved better.
